Escape Monthly September 2013 Review: Coastal Oregon

It’s official: I’m in love. With one of my new subscription boxes: Escape Monthly! This was my first box and I’m already hooked. I almost didn’t want to like it because at $49.95/month it’s more expensive than most of my other subscription services…but I absolutely love it and will continue to subscribe. Honestly, the value is great and the idea is unique, so in my opinion, it’s worth the money. Plus right now they’re a new company and have quite a few promo codes floating around. So for those who are unfamiliar, Escape Monthly is a destination inspired monthly delivery of “luxury products to help you relax and renew”. Every month, they curate a selection of items ranging from spa/beauty to gourmet snacks and gift certificates. They also give one member a vacation for two to the destination of the month!

Now onto the review! This month’s destination was Coastal Oregon.

Doug’s Nuts Original Blend | $5.95

Metolius Tea and Apothecary Emma | $10.00

Oregon Orchard Cherry Chocolate Hazelnuts | $3.29

Grounds For Change Peru “Cafe Feminino” | $10.45

I love the tea and the hazelnuts! The tea is a perfect blend of fruity and floral, and it makes a great iced drink! It’s still too hot here in Texas to enjoy any kind of hot tea. I’m going to bring the mixed nuts to work tomorrow and share them with my coworkers (I don’t expect the bag to last very long). And the coffee smells so good, it’s a dark roast with notes of chocolate! I can’t wait to try it in the morning. I’m also loving that it’s fair trade certified.

Oregon Rain Soap Portland Rose Lotion | $8.99

Primitive Lights Beeswax Cinnamon Roll Votive | $4.00

Portland Bee Balm | $2.75

Moon Oregon Travel Guide | $16.99

Molly Muriel Volcanic Bliss | $6.00

Bonus Item: Wooden Pumice Brush | $5.99

I know some people don’t like the travel books that come in the box, but I personally love them and hope each box will include one. I’m looking forward to expanding my library of travel books and hope to put them all to use someday! There isn’t a single item from this month’s box that I dislike. The soap is a generous size and smells so fresh, with a great texture. It’s reminiscent of the LUSH brand’s charcoal soap (that I pay around $12 for).

My favorite item is the candle. It smells so good and is completely adorable. I can’t bring myself to burn it! I’ll definitely be buying more for the holidays. It was also really sweet of Escape Monthly to include the pumice brush. It ties in perfectly with their goal of delivering a relaxing vacation in a box. I foresee a DIY spa night for myself this weekend!

escape monthly september 2013 coastal oregon beauty spa travel guideThe total value for this box is $74.41, which is decent. Not only did everything come together to form a getaway feel, they are all really high quality products. Plus, I like knowing that I’m supporting local small businesses. Next month’s destination is going to be Hawaii’s Big Island. I can’t wait! How about you?

As always, all views in this review are the opinion of the author. Nothing was received in exchange for a review, and I am not affiliated with Escape Monthly.
