Escape Monthly January 2014 Review: Colorado

January’s Escape Monthly destination is Colorado! I’ve never been there but always wanted to go, so this was a fun treat.

Escape Monthly is a destination inspired monthly delivery of “luxury products to help you relax and renew” and the cost is $49.95/month. (But it’s really more like $39.99/month since you get 20% off for life with code YOURESCAPE.) Every box is filled with a selection of items ranging from spa/beauty to gourmet snacks and gift certificates. They also give one lucky member a vacation for two to the destination of the month!

Escape Monthly January Colorado ReviewJackson’s Honest Potato Chips Sea Salt | $1.25
I’ll never say no to kettle cooked potato chips! Although my bag got pretty flattened in the mail, the chips (crumbs) were still delicious! I want to try the salt and vinegar flavor so I might order some online or search for it in stores. I suspect Whole Foods might have it, since this is organic and non-GMO.

Chocolove Orange Peel in Dark Chocolate Bar | $2.63
Yum! I’ve been buying Chocolove bars for years and never knew they were from Colorado! I thought this was a super cute item for January since each bar of Chocolove comes with a love poem on the inside of the wrapper. I’m definitely saving this for a Valentine’s Day treat!

Bobo’s Oat Bars in Peach | $3.13
I loved this bar so much that I immediately bought more of them. I got the Chocolate Almond ones from Amazon because it came with free shipping. These bars are really moist and soft and are gluten free, vegan, and non-GMO!

Escape Monthly January Colorado ReviewWhite Girl Salsa Medium Tomatillo | $5.99
The safety button on the lid popped during shipment, and Escape Monthly has offered to send me a new one, so I don’t know what this tastes like yet. But judging from the posts on Facebook, people are loving this salsa! I can’t wait to try it. Also, thanks again to Escape Monthly for great customer service!

Moon Handbooks Colorado Travel Guide | $14.27
I have a nice little collection of Moon travel guides now thanks to Escape Monthly, and I’m happy to add this one to the ranks. I’m sure I will use it since I plan on going to Colorado within the next couple of years. Now that I live in Texas, a road trip is definitely feasible!

Escape Monthly January Colorado ReviewBluecorn Naturals Tranquility Tin Candle | $4.80
I love the travel tin; it’s a great idea! I think I’ll save this candle for my next business trip 🙂 It smells really good and I love how it’s all natural and 100% beeswax.

Colorado Aromatics Lavender Mountain Mist Hand and Body Lotion | $5.20
With all the cold weather, my hands are getting really dried out so I’m so happy to see a hand lotion product from this month. I’m a huge fan of lavender so the scent is perfect, and so far I’ve found this lotion to be lightweight and non-greasy.

Rocky Mountain Mud Bath | $7.25
This might be another product I bring with me on business trips, since it’s supposed to be a stress relief blend. There’s enough in this package for two baths, and I’m really excited to test it out. It has a light lavender scent, so the lotion makes a great pairing with this mud bath.

Escape Monthly January Colorado ReviewThe last item is a geode! You can break it open to see the crystals inside, and from the pictures I saw on Facebook, they’re really pretty!

Escape Monthly January Colorado Review

Unfortunately for me, mine was pretty disappointing. I contacted their customer service about this as well, and hopefully they will send me another geode that actually has something inside.

Escape Monthly January Colorado ReviewOverall, this box was worth $44.52 (excluding the geode), which is the lowest I’ve seen from Escape Monthly so far. I hope they step up their game for the next destination, which is going to be New York. On the bright side, my experience from this month has taught me that Escape Monthly has great customer service! For me, that makes a big difference. I was very impressed with how quickly they responded to my email (1 business day) and how they were more than happy to send me a replacement for the salsa and geode.

As always, all views in this post are the opinion of the author. I am not affiliated with Escape Monthly, though this post does contain referral links. You don’t have to use them, but I sure would appreciate it if you did 🙂
