POPSUGAR Must Have July 2014 Review

After much anticipation, I received my July POPSUGAR Must Have box in the mail on Thursday. I’m so glad I got it before the weekend, because I ended up using almost everything in the box on Saturday when I went to a water park with some friends. I’m pretty sure I convinced some of them to join POPSUGAR, since everyone was asking me about where I got some of the items and I couldn’t stop rambling on and on about my subscription box addiction. The more the merrier!

POPSUGAR Must Have is a subscription service that sends a variety of items for women that are curated by the POPSUGAR editors. Items typically include food, beauty, home, among other miscellaneous things. Each month is $39.99/month, but you can use the code REFER5 to get $5 off your first month. It’s hands down my favorite subscription thus far, and consistently has a great cost to value ratio. Almost every month the value of the box is more than $100.

Loving all the inspiration for this box! I think they really captured Summer very well.

Michael Stars Sea Grass Crusher Hat | $48.00
Not my favorite style, but I still think it’s pretty cute. And I am definitely happy to have it to keep in the car. I wish the hat had a bit more structure, but I do like that the wire around the rim allows for reshaping. It’s not exactly something I would pick up for myself, but that’s why I love subscription boxes! I end up with different items that push me out of my comfort zone and sometimes I completely fall in love with something I never would have discovered otherwise. And as it turns out, I wore this hat on Saturday and it started to grow on me more and more. All my friends said it was really cute and one even asked to borrow it (always a good sign!), so maybe by the end of summer it will be my new go-to hat!

Acme Party Company Straws | $7.00
So adorable! Even though paper straws aren’t the most practical, they’re too cute to resist. My friends and I had a picnic for lunch in the parking lot of the water park (not very classy, but hey who wants to eat the overpriced fried food in the park??) and I brought these straws along just for fun. It made us feel a little fancier, and the colors are just so cheerful. I really love the chevron pattern! For those who don’t want to use them as actual straws, there are a ton of DIY craft ideas on Pinterest for what to do with paper straws.

Dang Toasted Coconut Chips | $2.87
I brought these to share since I don’t particularly like coconut, but I actually thought these chips were amazing. Very crunchy with just the right amount of sweetness. I recommend you try at least one bag if you’re on the fence; I was skeptical but did a complete 180. They’re also perfect for sharing: it’s vegan, gluten-free, cholesterol-free, low in sugar, among other good things. I just wish I had a bigger bag, since this little one wasn’t nearly enough!

French Bull Ziggy Salad Servers | $12.00
Brought these with a huge bowl of salad to the picnic, and I think my friends joined POPSUGAR just to get this. And I can’t blame them, I adore this little set. Who would have thought I could be so excited about salad servers? French Bull has awesome patterns but this “Ziggy” collection is my favorite, so I really lucked out.

Sun Bum SPF 30 Sunscreen | $11.99
Sun Bum Cool Down Lotion | $7.99
My first time trying Sun Bum, and I’m a fan. It smells really good, kind of like classic banana suntan lotion. I am so happy that the “Cool Down” lotion is included as well as the sunscreen! I forgot to apply sunscreen to my feet and my ears, so let’s just say the aloe lotion is very appreciated right now….

TKO Jump Rope | $12.00
I used to love jump ropes as a kid and I have been meaning to buy one for years now but for some reason never got around to it. Hopefully now that I have this it will inspire me to actually use it fairly often. I do like the suggestion of packing the jump rope on vacations since it takes up almost no space and is a great way to stay fit on-the-go.

Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara | $7.00
This mascara is a “Special Extra From Revlon”, and I don’t have a problem with sponsored items or drugstore cosmetics, so I’m happy to get this! I haven’t tried a Revlon product in years but it has pretty good reviews online. I’ll admit to being a total mascara junkie, so I always welcome more!

POPSUGAR Must Have July 2014 Review

This box really felt like Summer in a box to me. I used a bunch of the items for a picnic and day at the water park, and it all came together really well. Love the curation and variety this month! The total value is $108.85, including the extra Revlon item. It’s always a great deal with POPSUGAR! I can’t wait for August, because last year’s box was amazing. August is their anniversary month, so I’m hoping they’ll include a cool little bonus again. Last year it was an exclusive Gorjana necklace!
