GlossyBox July 2014 Review plus August 2014 Coupon Code and Sneak Peek!

As usual, my Glossybox arrived in the wrong month. Can you believe it’s August already? I’m still stuck in like, June.

GlossyBox is $21/month, and each box contains five or six luxury beauty products. They usually have a good amount of full-sized products as well as the usual deluxe-sized samples. GlossyBox is one of my favorite subscriptions to give as gifts, since they have awesome packaging and substantially large products. They have amazing collaborations as well, and sometimes I’ll even get two or three boxes from the same month when they release a good spoiler.

And for those of you who are subscribing for the first time (or if you’re like me and keep canceling), here’s an awesome coupon: use coupon code MAGIC to get a free full-sized Eyeko Black Magic Mascara, a $24.00 value, with your first GlossyBox

Now, onto the review!

GlossyBox July 2014 Review plus August 2014 Coupon Code and Sneak Peek!

I feel like every month I comment on how awesome the packaging is. But it’s well deserved! I keep all their boxes and reuse them as gift boxes, and they’re one of my favorite subscriptions to gift.

GlamGlow YouthMud Tinglexfoliate Treatment | $19.00
This was the sneak peek that got me to sign up for the July box! I love this GlamGlow mask and it’s on the pricey side so I’m always on the lookout for it in boxes. I kind of wish I had ordered two boxes just to get another one! It does an amazing job of keeping my pores in check, and leaves my skin super soft. I actually prefer this product in the sample size, since a little bit goes a long way and the full-sized jar can dry out if you’re not careful.

Malin + Goetz Mojito Lip Balm | $8.40
The last thing I need is another lip balm, but since it’s Malin + Goetz, I gave it go. And I’m really glad I did! The minty mojito flavor is great, and it feels very light on my lips. Not greasy at all, like some balms that I’ve tried. I’m still stubbornly clinging to my Rosebud Salve, but since this feels much lighter and is completely clear, it might be a better choice for Summer.

The Aloe Source Jojoba Radiance Cleansing Polish | $4.48
At first I was kind of bummed to see this instead of the Mitchell and Peach Body Cream that some other people got in their boxes. But then I thought about it some more and I have so many body moisturizers that this sample is actually more useful. I was surprised that this cleanser has an exfoliating effect (I guess I should have figured it out since the word “polish” is in the name), but it’s so gentle that I can use it twice a day. I’ll probably end up getting a full size when I’m done with the sample!

Philip B. PH Restorative Detangling Toning Mist | $11.37
This is the only product in my box that I didn’t love. It’s supposed to increase shine, which I really didn’t notice. What I did notice is the overwhelming apple cider vinegar scent. I’m actually pretty okay with the smell of vinegar usually, since I use it to clean around the house and everything. But I just don’t see why anyone would their hair to smell strongly of apple cider vinegar? The smell went away after an hour or so, but that’s still a long time to be carrying it around.

Skin Inc. Custom-Blended Brightening Serum | $45.00
This was the 2nd spoiler that was released for the box, and it was too adorable to say no to. I already have a bunch of serums that I’m slowly working my way through, but this was just too cute! I think this is a Japanese company, and these serums are definitely made in Japan. I’ve always had great luck with Japanese skincare brands, so I had a good feeling about this serum. I’ve only had it for a day so I can’t attest to any results, but I’m optimistic!

Since I cancelled my account to skip June, I was able to take advantage of a gift with purchase coupon for July. I got a free full size Ciate Paint Pot, valued at $15.00. It came in assorted colors, and I lucked out with Kitten Heels: a lovely red with a hint of gold shimmer. Can’t wait to try it! I’ve never tried Ciate before, so I’m unsure of what the formula will be like.

So this box had a value of $88.25, and I adore 4 out of 5 products. Plus I got an extra nail polish in a color that I really like! Each time I get a Glossybox I’m always really impressed. The value is always sky high and it definitely feels like a very luxurious subscription with a fantastic range of brands.

Oh, and the spoiler for next month: each August 2014 GlossyBox will include an exclusive Kryolan Highlighter. This highlighter will be made exclusively for Glossybox, and I’ve heard really good things about Kryolan. Also, August is going to be Glossybox’s third anniversary! So I’m keeping my fingers crossed for an awesome high-value box.

  1. Ugh, tell me about it! I feel like summer flew by! Love the review and haul though! Could you do one on Vain Pursuits as well? I’d love to hear what you have to say about them!
