In my last Sephora haul I picked up a bottle from Nails Inc.’s Floral Collection. The entire collection looks ridiculously adorable in the bottle, so I couldn’t resist! And Nails Inc. has always consistently given me great results before. I chose Daisy Lane, which has red, pink, and white flowers with white and pink confetti.
I used one coat of Zoya’s Erika for the base color, then two very thick coats of Daisy Lane, finished with one coat of Kensington Caviar top coat. Oh and everyone please excuse my very sad-looking cuticles. I’m working on it, I promise.
I’m sorry to say that this is my first Nails Inc. polish that I dislike.
1) This product is just super hard to use. The flowers are almost impossible to dig out of the bottle using the brush, and when you finally do get it, they’re hard to arrange on your nails. The floral pieces are too big and can’t lay flat on your nails, so they easily snag on things the next day. You also have to work very quickly with arranging the flowers, since you don’t want to smudge the previous layer and this top coat dries pretty quickly. Oh, and did I mention that the flowers like to stick together? So sometimes you’ll have 3 or 4 of them stacked on top of each other, and you’ll need to grab the nearest tool (for me it was a bobby pin) to push them apart.
2) You can easily get this same effect (for way cheaper and easier) by just buying little floral confetti pieces and sticking them on your nails, then covering it with a glitter top coat.
3) It doesn’t last very long. Because the flowers stick out and can’t lay flat, they snag on things and chip easily. I painted my nails last night, and during my lunch break today I was in the kitchen and it caught on a napkin and created a big chip 😦
4) All glitters are hard to remove, but this one is exceptionally difficult. Normally that’s not a deal breaker for me, but it definitely is annoying. Those flower pieces are very tough to get off!
I’m actually super sad that this didn’t work out. It’s so cute. And the packaging is so pretty. And I wanted to love it sooo badly. But maybe I had such a hard time with it because I’m pretty new to nail polish? I’m used to working with very simple and straight-forward polish and designs. Are all special effects this difficult? Did anyone else try it and absolutely love it? I’d love to hear other opinions!
