Rounding up the end of the month is BarkBox, which ships a bit later on the calendar than a lot of other boxes. It’s always a pleasant surprise to see it on my doorstep, since my dog goes nuts when she sees it and “helps me” go through everything…by which I really mean attempt to grab the toys before I can take any photos. I’m pretty convinced she recognizes the Barkbox logo at this point.
BarkBox is $29/month if you do the month-to-month plan, but it goes down to only $18/month if you sign up for the whole year! We sprung for the whole year since it was such a great deal. Before getting BarkBox we were probably dropping between $30 to $50 a month at pet stores, and now one box usually lasts us through the month. You can use my link for 10% off any subscription. And if you use my link, they’ll donate a free box to the Bark-N-Rest Retirement Center! It’s a great cause and I’m pleased that BarkBox gives back to the doggie community!
You can choose different sizes when you order, and we get the Large box (for dogs over 50 lbs). Even though Maddie is about 46 lbs, she has the energy and strength of a much larger dog so we always size up for toys. BarkBox always has a theme for each month, and August’s is “BBQ Block Party”.
Delca Corporation Watermelon | $11.00
Cutest toy ever! How perfectly Summer is this? I’m really glad we got the larger version of this toy, and it’s the perfect size for Maddie. There’s a large disc squeaker inside that is more durable than the little bulb ones, and she completely adores running around with it in her mouth squeaking all over the place. I’m definitely buying another one when this one (inevitably) gets shredded by her!
Healthy Dogma Bacon Barkers | $8.00
We’ve received treats from Healthy Dogma in the past and Maddie has always loved them. As with most of the treats we get from Barkbox, these are made in USA (the only exception from Barkbox has been products from Canada, which I have no objection with), contain no corn, and are made with all natural high quality ingredients.
Ingredients list: Barley, Bacon, Oats, Peas, Tomato Pomace, Canola Oil, Cranberry, Carrot, Sweet Potato, Celery, Beets, Parsley, Lettuce, and Watercress. No preservatives, additives, or artificial fillers!
True Dogs LLC Coke Can | $11.00
I always get excited to see a rubber toy in the box, since Maddie is so destructive and really needs chew-friendly toys. This large size is perfect and the toy is definitely ideal for dogs who love to play rough. I also think this soda can toy is so great with the theme!
There are openings on both ends to hold treats, which Maddie goes nuts for. She has learned to bring the toys over to me when she wants a refill; so smart and spoiled.
Throughly enjoying her newest addition to the toy collection.
Bocce’s Bakery Chicken Treats | $10.00
Bocce’s Bakery is a brand we’ve discovered through Barkbox, and probably one of my favorite finds. They always use locally sourced, all natural, high quality ingredients and are made in the USA. All of their treats are free of any artificial preservatives, and the ingredients list is so simple: oat flour, chicken, pumpkin, and rosemary. How beautiful is that? Also note the adorable heart shapes of the treats.
Butcher’s Block Steer Stick | $2.00
Every box usually contains at least 1 chew, so we’ve learned to expect that. I usually save these for when I’m clipping Maddie’s nails or something else she hates, and they’re always a godsend. Butcher’s Block is the most common brand we get, and they only use USDA approved meat sourced from the USA.
My box for this month comes to a total of $42.00, which I’m very satisfied with. We got a toy that will last for a long time (the soda can), and Maddie really enjoyed everything else as well. I don’t think I’ve ever had a month of Barkbox that I was dissatisfied with, since even when I’ve had an issue with a toy their customer service has been nothing short of amazing. Can’t wait to see what fun Fall themes they’ll have!
