Glossybox May 2016 Review

After the drama from last month’s Glossybox, I was really interested to see what kind of box we would all be receiving. Since I seem to always be one of the last people to receive my box, I get to see what everyone else got in their boxes and get an idea about the different variations that are sent out. I’m happy to report that I got the combination I wanted! Also, the variations didn’t have such a huge price difference this month, which is always a good sign.

Glossybox is $21 a month, or less with a 3 month, 6 month, or annual subscription. Each month you get 5 deluxe sized beauty samples, and sometimes they’ll send out full sized products as well. They aim to send high end brands, but in the past I’ve seen some lower price point items as well. If you’re interested in signing up but not in a rush, it might be worth waiting for a good deal to come around if you don’t want to pay full price. I certainly would not be shelling out the full $21/month for this subscription.

Glossybox May 2016 Review

Box looked more substantial this month! The sizes seemed a bit bigger than what the past couple months have been.

RITUALS Cosmetics Shower Foam in Zensation | $3.75
Very pleased to see a RITUALS item in this box. I love this brand! It feels very luxurious yet is reasonably priced. I usually buy a few of the shower gels from Barney’s when they have the gift with purchase beauty events. This shower gel turns into a soft foamy texture when you use it, and is very gentle on the skin. It also smells absolutely divine! At $12 for the full size (which lasts forever, by the way), it’s a nice little treat that doesn’t break the bank. I’m glad to have a travel sized one now, thanks to Glossybox.

Talika Photo-Hydra Day | $39.50
Yay for more French beauty items! I do enjoy discovering European brands through Glossybox and think that is currently their most interesting selling point. This is a lightweight gel moisturizer and I’m surprised by how much I like it. I usually don’t like gel moisturizers, but this one is so lightweight and works really well with my skin. My face feels moisturized and soft, but there wasn’t any shininess that I had to cover up with powder. I’m glad we got such a large bottle to play around with. If my skin doesn’t react poorly after this tube, I will probably purchase more.

Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme Anti-Aging Creme | $8.50
This was the item I was hoping to get, so I was really happy when I saw this in my box! Usually my main issue with Estee Lauder products is the heavy fragrance used in many of the creams. This moisturizer has a light fragrance that I found quite refreshing, and it definitely gave my skin a great boost of moisture when I used it overnight.

Glossybox May 2016 Review

The cream has a thick texture and feels like it’s going to be heavy, but it actually absorbs really quickly and well. I would only use it as a night moisturizer though, since I think it would be hard to apply makeup on top of the moisturizer.

Glossybox May 2016 Review

Benefit Roller Lash | $8.00
As much as I like this mascara, I’m not excited about this sample at all. It feels similar to when we got a sample of Benefit’s POREfessional a couple months ago–I love the product, but the sample is so easy to obtain. Sephora gave these mini mascaras out for free when the product first went on the market, and I’ve gotten several of them within the past year. I just feels boring and old to get another roller lash mascara sample from a box that is supposed to be “luxe” and “full sized”. With all that being said, I do like this mascara. It doesn’t provide much volume for me, but it gives great curl and length. I like to layer it with my current favorite, Armani’s Eyes To Kill.

Glossybox May 2016 Review

NIOXIN System 3 Cleanser and Scalp Therapy Conditioner | $10.00
I’m a bit confused about these products, since it’s not entirely clear if this is meant for people who are currently worried about thinning hair but still have normal hair, or if it’s meant for people who are already dealing with thinning hair. Either way, I don’t think I really fall into either category. If anything, my hair is too thick! I was hoping it would maybe provide a lot of volume, since my hair is thick but tends to lie flat (or get really frizzy). Unfortunately, it doesn’t deliver any additional volume. The cleanser claims to “help remove follicle-clogging sebum, fatty acids and environmental residues from the scalp skin”, thus stimulating more hair growth in the future. Not sure how effective this is, but it’s just not a product I’m that interested in.

Glossybox May 2016 Review

Overall, it was a decent box. I found a moisturizer that I really like, and got travel sized versions of two products I already use. The value comes out to $69.75, which is more than triple the cost of the box.

My main issue with this subscription is the same thing I’ve been talking about for months now: it doesn’t feel exciting. Some of the products that Glossybox sends are items that have already been featured in boxes before, so there isn’t a sense of discovery. With so many other beauty subscription boxes out there, I feel like Glossybox can’t really claim to be a “luxury” box or a “full sized” box. Not a single item I got in my May box was full sized! Glossybox also sends out variations for their boxes but does not take your profile into account, so there’s no guarantee that you’ll be getting the products that match with your interests/lifestyle/skin tone. Everyone got the same shampoo and conditioner for thinning hair, even though that’s a vey specific concern. It just feels odd to send it to everyone!

The one thing I really do enjoy about Glossybox is the inclusion of international brands. It’s fun to get European products and I think they’re the only beauty box that consistently offers brands from Europe month after month. Despite that,  I don’t see myself resubscribing when my year is up. And definitely not for the full price.

Birchbox May 2016 Review plus June 2016 Sample Options

I actually got my Birchbox early this month, but one of my samples had leaked during shipment and gotten all over my other samples. It wasn’t a huge deal because I was able to rinse some of the items off, but I contacted customer service and was immediately sent a brand new box with all the samples! I didn’t even need everything to be replaced, but they were so apologetic and sent me a brand new box anyways. Just thought I would share that little tidbit about the customer service!

Birchbox is $10/month (less if you sign up for a longer subscription), and it’s the original beauty subscription box. I think my favorite part about Birchbox is that they have an amazing point system. Every 100 points is worth $10 in the shop, and you get 10 points for each sample you review from your box. So you’re basically guaranteed to get at least $5 worth of store credit from each box, making the subscription an amazing deal.

Each month you get 5 samples based on your profile, and you can choose one of the samples from a short list that they released the previous month. It’s usually an option between 3 or 4 samples, and you can log into your account to add one to your box. You can also opt to be surprised for all 5 samples, or go for a curated box. Curated boxes will list all the contents so you won’t be surprised, and are usually curated by a guest or with a partnership around a theme.

Promo code alert: use coupon code PIXIPALETTE to get a free Pixi by Petra Palette ($12 Value) with your first month of Birchbox!

Birchbox May 2016 Review plus June 2016 Sample Options

I’ve been on a curated box binge lately! Usually I prefer to choose one sample and be surprised by the other 4, but recently the curated boxes have been great choices for me.

Birchbox May 2016 Review plus June 2016 Sample Options

Davines Love Smoothing Shampoo | $7.40
I’ve sampled this in the past and loved it, so seeing this in the curated box helped seal the deal for my choice. This shampoo smells amazing and leaves my hair feeling very soft without being harsh. It rinses out really clean and I’ve found my hair to be easier to style. I always love having travel sized containers of shampoo and conditioner on hand, and at 2.5 ounces this is a very generous size but still perfectly okay for TSA. Word of advice though: this is the sample that leaked during shipment. Keeping that in mind, I will probably transfer the contents to a more leak-proof travel container.

Birchbox May 2016 Review plus June 2016 Sample Options

Davines Love Smoothing Conditioner | $1.37
Whenever I get a little conditioner packet like this, I wish I could swap the sizes between the conditioner and the shampoo! I use more conditioner than shampoo, so that would have been more practical for me. Extra bummer because I really like this conditioner and would have loved a bigger sample. It’s gentle on my hair and keeps it really soft and shiny and easy to style. This conditioner bumps the number of samples in my box up to 6, which meant I got to review 6 items and get 60 points (worth $6.00 store credit) instead of the usual 50.

Birchbox May 2016 Review plus June 2016 Sample Options

COOLA SPF 30 Organic Makeup Setting Spray$7.20
I wear sunscreen religiously 365 days a year, so anything with SPF is a win in my book. I personally really like COOLA products and use their matte bb cream almost every day, so I had really high hopes for this spray. While I did like the way it felt on my skin (dried quickly and didn’t feel sticky), I’m not sure how well it works as sun protection. A light misting wouldn’t give you enough product to block UV rays but anything more than a few sprays would be way too much product sitting on your face. I put on a very generous layer and my face felt sort of greasy as the day wore on. All the rain and humidity we have here in Houston probably wasn’t helping, but I just felt like there’s no way you could get adequate SPF coverage without putting on too much.

Birchbox May 2016 Review plus June 2016 Sample Options

ModelCo Lip Lacquer in Creme Brulee | $5.33
When I got the curated box, I thought this would be more of a pink-toned nude. As it turns out, it’s really quite close to my skin tone and so I look sort of strange wearing it. I look like I tried to cover my lips with foundation or something, haha. But I think for someone who is paler this would be a really nice no-makeup nude! The texture was okay, nothing spectacular. It wasn’t bad, but I guess I’m just not that excited about ModelCo products anymore because I feel like they’ve become one of those “subscription box only” beauty companies. I’ve received so many of their products in various boxes and I’m feeling bored. The true sign of a subscription box addict…

Birchbox May 2016 Review plus June 2016 Sample Options

CLEAN Blossom Eau de Parfum | $1.68
I don’t think anyone is thrilled with getting these tiny perfume samples in their box, but at least I really like this scent! It definitely reminds me of spring and cheerful weather. Orange blossom is one of my favorites fragrances, and I can smell it pretty strongly in this perfume.

Birchbox May 2016 Review plus June 2016 Sample Options

Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzer | $10.36
The main reason I got this box was to get this bronzer! I’ve always heard so many great things about it and I love Benefit’s products. I’ve been wanting to try it for such a long time but since I have so much bronzer samples from various boxes, I never bit the bullet to buy one. Thrilled that I got it as a sample!  It’s a generous size too, at about a third of the full sized product.

Birchbox May 2016 Review plus June 2016 Sample Options

Totally love it! It blends so easily and goes on super smooth. It’s a great match for my complexion, since it’s not super dark but is buildable and looks amazing for light contouring. It doesn’t have any sparkle or shimmer, which is something that I see in a lot of bronzers and dislike. Paired with Benefit’s Dandelion blush, I can get a really great “barely there” natural look!

Birchbox May 2016 Review plus June 2016 Sample Options

Overall, I thought this was an amazing month! I know it sounds like I disliked several of my samples, but I’m actually really happy with what I got. Even though the COOLA didn’t work out for me, I love that I got to try it through Birchbox. The Benefit bronzer and Davines products are amazing and will get used up. Just the bronzer was worth the cost of the box! My total value comes out to $33.34, which is more than triple what I paid.

Next month’s sample option:

  • Benefit Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel in Light, Medium, or Dark

Or choose the curated box, which comes with

  • LOC One and Done Shadow Stick in Haute Cocoa OR Heavy Petal
  • Davines Authentic Cleansing Nectar Hair/Body Deluxe + Authentic Moisturizing Butter Packette
  • NUXE Reve de Miel Facial Cleansing and Make-Up Removing Gel
  • Air Repair Complexion Boosting Moisturizer
  • The Beauty Crop PBJ Smoothie Stick in Raisin the Roof

What do you think? More Davines in my life sounds like a good idea. I’m surprised that the sample choice is only one product, but I guess it’s good that they’re letting people choose which shade works best. I already have sufficiently thick brows so I think this fiber gel might make them comically dark.  I’ll probably go for the curated box!

POPSUGAR Must Have May 2016 Box Review and Promo Code!

Finally got my May POPSUGAR box this week! I peeked and looked at spoilers before I got my box, so I knew what to expect already. I never seem to have the self restraint to avoid looking at spoilers! But it’s completely different to actually have the box in my hands, because sometimes the spoilers don’t look that exciting but I end up loving the box once I actually receive it. I was hoping this would be one of those boxes.

POPSUGAR Must Have is a subscription service that sends a variety of items for women that are curated by the POPSUGAR editors. Items typically include food, beauty, home, among other miscellaneous things. Each month is $39.99/month, but you can use the code REFER5 to get $5 off your first month. It’s hands down my favorite subscription thus far, and consistently has a great cost to value ratio. Almost every month the value of the box is more than $100.

POPSUGAR Must Have May 2016 Box Review and Promo Code!

Recently POPSUGAR has gone through another rebranding, so I’m still getting used to the new look. While I like the more minimal branding, I think the boxes are packed more haphazardly now. This month all my items arrived kind of jumbled without much protective packaging. Luckily nothing was broken, but I miss the old days of carefully packed boxes!

On the bright side the information cards look really posh now!

POPSUGAR Must Have May 2016 Box Review and Promo Code!

Kocostar Foot Therapy | $10.00
First of all, I always get excited when I see products that I’ve seen at Anthropologie being featured in a subscription box! Normally this is a little out of my price range for what I’m willing to spend on a single-use foot mask, but since it came in a box I’m pretty happy. This foot mask is meant to be worn for 1.5 hours, so get Netflix ready! Word of advice: don’t try to walk in this mask! There’s a good chance that you’ll slip, since the interior is very slick.

Spongelle Spongology Body Buffer | $20.00
I’m a sucker for gorgeous packaging, and this is my favorite that I’ve seen from Spongelle before! Even though the concept of a cleanser-infused sponge is sort of wasteful, I do enjoy using them for traveling. Instead of having to bring little bottles of of body wash, I can bring a sponge that is meant to be disposed of after a week or two. This one is supposed to last for approximately 20 uses.

POPSUGAR Must Have May 2016 Box Review and Promo Code!

This sponge is definitely great for exfoliating–it’s much rougher than I expected! I found it to be pretty luxurious, almost like a little massage for myself in the shower. My skin felt really soft and clean afterwards and I love the scent!

Happy Spritz Breathe Deeply | $25.00
I don’t really know what to use this for. It’s meant to be used on your face as a refreshing spray, and also on your yoga mat after an intense workout session. I find peppermint oil to be very harsh on my skin, so I definitely didn’t want to spray any on my face. I tried some on my yoga mat but I still prefer the actual cleaner that my yoga studio provides after each class. I’ve also tried using it as a room freshener spray but it didn’t really do much. Feeling sort of disappointed since it’s one of the higher priced items in this box and so far I’m totally stumped on what to use this for. Open to any and all suggestions!

POPSUGAR Must Have May 2016 Box Review and Promo Code!

GAIAM Foldable Yoga Mat | $24.98
I applaud POPSUGAR for sending something very different, because I don’t think I’ve ever seen a yoga mat in a subscription box like this before! Personally, I won’t get very much use out of this mat because I pretty much never travel with a yoga mat and I already have a very thin one that rolls up efficiently (also by GAIAM). Since this one is meant to be folded, it’s quite difficult to get the folds out of it even after keeping it unfolded for several days. For me, that’s a deal breaker because I love having my yoga mat lay perfectly flat. It bothers me to even have a small corner curled up! Plus I think over time your mat would crack at the fold marks. I’ll be passing this along to a friend who needs a yoga mat, since I know it would just be collecting dust in my home.

POPSUGAR Must Have May 2016 Box Review and Promo Code!

Bluma Project Capri Bracelets Set of 2 | $44.00
I love the adorable packaging! These bracelets are so much smaller and more delicate than I thought they would be. They are handcrafted by Guatemalan artisans and made with a thin elastic to stretch to accommodate your wrist size. I found them to be a little on the smaller side, since they fit me sort of snugly but I think I have pretty average sized wrists.

POPSUGAR Must Have May 2016 Box Review and Promo Code!

POPSUGAR must really have a thing for tassels right now! First the tassel necklace in the March box and now 2 tassel bracelets! I believe every subscriber received the same color combination: one light blue and one navy.

POPSUGAR Must Have May 2016 Box Review and Promo Code!

I actually like these bracelets way more than I thought I would, but I’m finding myself incredulous about the price tag. I have no idea how these are valued at $22 each. It’s literally just a thin piece of elastic with seed beads.

JimmyBar! Peanut Butter Clutter Clean Snack Bar | $2.49
Not a huge fan of peanut butter or dates, so my boyfriend got to enjoy this. He liked it, but didn’t feel it was special enough to warrant buying more. It’s gluten-free, dairy-free, and doesn’t contain any preservatives. Very simple ingredients list for those who are watchful of that: Dates, Peanut Butter, Crisp Brown Rice, Peanuts, Almonds, Honey.

POPSUGAR Must Have May 2016 Box Review and Promo Code!

Hint Kick Black Raspberry Infused Water | $1.69
This was a “special extra”, meaning it’s a sponsored item. My boyfriend and I are both big fans of sugar-free beverages, so I was happy to try a drink that I had never heard of before. I guess maybe because I was expecting it to be a slightly sweet flavor that I was a bit thrown off when it tasted kind of herbal, if that makes sense. It did taste like the fruit infused water that I’ve been obsessed with, but more chemical and herbal. I wasn’t a big fan. I wish I had gotten to try the Lemon Cayenne flavor that some subscribers received. It sounds more interesting. For me, I don’t really see the point of buying this drink. You can make your own infused water by adding mint or lemon or whatever fruit you want. It’s easy, delicious, and cheap! And if you want caffeine, tea comes in a bunch of different types and flavors as well.

POPSUGAR Must Have May 2016 Box Review and Promo Code!

Revlon Volume + Length Magnified Mascara | $8.99
This is another sponsored item, which makes sense since POPSUGAR doesn’t usually send drugstore brands like Revlon. I’m happy to try out a new product though, because sometimes drugstore brands yield amazing results! Unfortunately, this one didn’t impress me. Maybe because I’m so particular about my mascara, but I found the wand difficult to work with and the formula to be flaky. It actually went on my lashes pretty well and I was able to get decent volume. But after a few hours they started to flake off and smudge.

POPSUGAR Must Have May 2016 Box Review and Promo Code!

There was also supposed to be a Half Hitch Goods $10 “Gift Card” in my box, but it appears to be missing. I didn’t even bother contacting customer service about it though, since it wasn’t a true gift card. If I have to spend extra money to get something, shipping isn’t covered, and it doesn’t stack, I don’t count it as an actual gift card. Half Hitch Goods does have some super cute stuff though!

Overall it was a disappointing box for me. I hate to be so negative, and I think this is probably one of the worst I’ve ever written for POPSUGAR, but I’m also trying to be honest. It wasn’t a good fit for me this month. I’m not saying it was a terrible box, since the value is still $137.15 (though to be fair that’s on the lower end for PSMH) and I’m sure plenty of people enjoyed theirs. I just don’t think I’m an active enough person to make this one exciting. The things that I did like are the lower value items: the foot mask, the sponge buffer, and the bracelets. Even though the bracelets have a high price tag, I personally would value them at a much lower cost (maybe like $10 each). I feel like I probably could have purchased similar items for around the same cost of the box.

On the bright side, this just means that next month will for sure be better than this month and I can’t wait to see what we’ll be getting!

The Honest Company Essentials Bundle Review plus Promo Code

It’s been a long time since my last review fromThe Honest Company, because I tend to buy the same cleaning supplies over and over again and it just doesn’t make much sense to keep reviewing them. But this time I have a bunch of new products that I haven’t tried before that I absolutely love so I’m going to review another Essentials bundle.

The Honest Company delivers family necessities directly to your door, and you can choose between three different plans: Diapers & Wipes Bundle (exactly as it sounds, it’s diapers and baby wipes), Essentials Bundle (cleaning supplies and body products), and a Health & Wellness Bundle (vitamins). All their products are eco-friendly without harsh chemicals, and almost their entire collection are vegan! I subscribe to the Essentials Bundle, which costs $35.95 per box. It comes out to $7.19 per item! It’s completely customizable (you log in and select the products you want in your bundle), and you can choose when you want the box delivered. With each box, you can also order 3 additional items with a 25% discount. Overall, I find it to be a really good deal. If you’re interested in getting started, use promo code INVITED10 for $10 off your first bundle.

The Honest Company Essentials Bundle Review plus Promo Code

I actually wasn’t planning to order another bundle until after my move in June, but The Honest Company sent out a really great promo code that I just had to take advantage of. For each bundle shipping out between a specific time slot (I think it was until the end of May), current subscribers were allowed to pick out a free gift. Now usually when I hear that, I’m expecting wipes or something on the lower price range. But they had some amazing items that you could get for free! I was able to snag a 2 in 1 Nursing Cover/Scarf for free, and it usually retails for almost $40! Seriously! I honestly love it when subscription companies reward their current subscribers and wish more companies would do it. I always see phenomenal deals that are for new customers only, but what about loyal customers that have stuck with the company for years? It’s great to know that Honest appreciates my business and rewards loyalty with these kinds of perks.

Honest Conditioner | $9.95 each
I went a little conditioner crazy with this bundle! I was running low on conditioner and couldn’t decide on a scent so just decided to get all three. Good logic, right? I’ve been using it for almost a week now and I love how my hair feels. It’s light and washes out easily and well. I like to air dry my hair and in the morning it feels soft, silky, and hydrated but not weighed down. The sweet orange vanilla scent is my favorite–it smells just like orange sherbet and makes me really excited about summer. My friend who is visiting me adores anything and everything lavender scented so I put it in the guest bathroom for her. I think I’ve got her hooked on Honest products now as well! The apricot kiss is the only scent that I was disappointed in. It’s not bad or anything, I just can’t really smell it. If you’re looking for a very lightly fragranced conditioner, I would give it a try!

Organic Shave Oil | $15.95
New holy grail! I’m so glad I found this oil. At first I was disappointed in how small the bottle is (2.25 fl oz), but a little goes a long way. I was able to get the closest shave I’ve ever gotten with this shave oil! With shorts season already starting here in Houston, this is something I’m going to need more of. It does have a strong herbal smell to it and it has botanical extracts and oils, so if you’re sensitive to that I wouldn’t recommend this. But otherwise I would say give it a chance, because you will get such a smooth shave that leaves your legs super hydrated with a slight glow. I’m so impressed!

Organic Dish Towels | $11.95
I’ve gotten these dish towels before and they’ve become a staple in my bundles. I love having new towels in the kitchen, and when they get old and gross I use them as all purpose rags around the house for cleaning. They’re surprisingly great for cleaning mirrors and windows, since they don’t leave lint behind! These dish towels also hold up really well in the wash.

Honest 2 in 1 Cover + Scarf | $39.97
And finally, the free gift! I’m still so surprised I got this for free. At first I was going to keep it for myself as a regular scarf, since I really like the color and lightweight material. But then I remembered that I have way too many scarves and I have a friend who is pregnant who could probably use this way more than I will. I was already planning to gift her a diaper subscription from Honest, so this ties in really nicely!

The Honest Company Essentials Bundle Review plus Promo Code

The fabric is a very lightweight cotton and is perfect for summer–so breezy and breathable. It’s also a huge size! Definitely very versatile, and I like that it’s fashionable enough to be a scarf. Hope she loves it!

The Honest Company Essentials Bundle Review plus Promo Code

My bundle value came to $57.75, and with the free gift it gets bumped up to a whopping $97.72! An amazing deal that I am more than happy with. Personally I think the essentials bundle is always a good deal if you’re willing to do the math and if you want some of the pricier items. If you only want 5 items that are on the cheaper side (wipes, dryer cloths, soap, etc.), you’re better off buying them individually. If you’re getting the expensive items like the shave oil, adding it to a bundle is the way to go. I like to make all 5 of my bundle items the more expensive stuff, since I only pay $35.95 for the bundle. Then I add the cheaper items as my add-ons because I get 25% off. Again, if you want to check out Honest and get your first bundle, use promo code INVITED10 for $10 off!

I’m very happy to have discovered the shave oil and the conditioner, and they will become new staples to my bundle. But what I’m even more pleased with is the great promotion that Honest offered to their existing customers! Other subscription companies, please take note! I’m sure attracting new customers makes sense from a business perspective, but retaining loyal customers should be important as well. It can be hurtful to loyal customers who have been paying full price for months to see newcomers or month-by-month customers getting large discounts. I see it all too often and sometimes I get annoyed. Just saying.

Peaches and Petals May 2016 Box Review plus Promo Codes

Usually my Peaches and Petals box arrives in a white plastic-wrapped container, so I was really surprised to discover a large cardboard box on my doorstep yesterday. It was much bigger than usual, and felt really heavy. As it turns out, the May box was so stuffed with goodies that they weren’t able to fit everything in the regular subscription box size! The theme for May is “Let’s Get Together”, focusing on parties and entertaining.

Peaches and Petals is a monthly subscription service that sends out vintage-modern items and beauty goods. For $19.99 a month (includes shipping), you’ll receive a mix of jewelry, fashion accessories, lifestyle goods, and beauty samples. Get 50% off your first box (bringing the price down to just $10!) with promo code PEACHMAY50. If that doesn’t work, you can try PEACHMAY25 and PEACHMAY10 for 25% off and 10% off, respectively. They have a new system with the promo codes, in which each code can only be used a set number of times. I checked just now and the 50% off code is still working, but use it while you can!

EDIT 05/11/2016: Just found out that the May promo codes are going to be disabled on the 16th. June codes are currently already working, and they are as follows: PEACH-JUNE50 for 50% off, PEACH-JUNE25 for 25% off, AND PEACH-JUNE10 for 10% off. Not valid for 3, 6, or 12 month subscriptions. Happy subscribing, y’all!

Party Tasting Spoon Set | $14.00
Estimating on the value here, since I couldn’t find this exact set anywhere. I love how well this fits the theme, and think it’s a really unique offering from a subscription box. I’ve never received tasting spoons before! I really like the clean white aesthetic and I’m glad there aren’t any patterns on it. Can’t wait to use these for a fancy girls brunch! I’m considering buying a second box so I can have a set of 10 spoons. It’s rare for me to host an event with only 5 people, so 10 would be much more useful in the long run.

Even if you don’t want to use these as tasting spoons, they make great little containers for dips and sauces. I love having little bowls like this in the kitchen–they’re so versatile!

Each spoon holds about 1/4 cup. I like that there aren’t any ridges and cleaning them is really easy. Some spoons I’ve seen have a crease between the bottom and the walls, which makes it tougher to wash since sauce can get stuck in the crevice. One thing I do wish is for these to be dishwasher safe. After a big dinner party I prefer to just throw everything in the dishwasher and not have to worry about sorting which items have to be washed by hand.

Tchibo Melamine Cutting Board | $2.00
Really cute for summer! I prefer to use heavy wood/bamboo cutting boards for cooking, but melamine is a great option for outdoor use and for on-the-go. The board is roughly 9″ x 6″, so it’s a small enough size to pack for picnics and barbecues. You can also use it as a serving tray. Added bonus: this is dishwasher safe!

IMproper Greetings Cocktail Napkins | $7.99
I have always loved IMproper Greetings’ products! In the past I’ve purchased their greeting cards and they were such a huge hit with all my friends. These napkins are perfect for a boozy dinner party. I think it would be really fun to get a few more packs (20 napkins/pack) and mix them up for a bit of variety at the party.

K&Company Chalkboard Pennant Kit | $12.99 (On sale for $6.49)
These are so on trend right now! I’m always seeing cute chalkboard banners on Pinterest and would love to use these at my next party. Each piece is patterned on one side and a chalkboard on the reverse side. I really like that the chalkboard is sturdy and easy to re-use by wiping away the chalk with a wet towel.

K&Company Chalkboard Party Arrow Kit | $6.99
As much as I love these, I’ll be gifting them to a friend of mine who is planning her wedding. She has been pinning a ton of chalkboard signs on her Pinterest and would definitely appreciate this little kit. It comes with 12 arrows, 2 of each design. All of the arrows are blank on the other side. The kit also comes with 12 useful pre-printed text (bathroom, this way, entrance, bar, exit, etc) rub-ons that you can transfer onto the arrows.

K&Company Paper Medallions Kit | $4.99
Another Pinterest-popular idea! I’ve seen a lot of pictures of paper medallions but never made any by myself. I’m glad to have an easy kit to introduce me to it, and hopefully I’ll be able to make more on my own. It looks simple enough (though those are famous last words, right?). This kit makes 1 large medallion, 2 mediums, and 3 smalls.

Charades In-A-Box Rock & Roll Edition | $4.72
I actually laughed when I saw this, because I would be so terrible at rock and roll charades! I definitely don’t know enough artists/bands/songs to play this game at all. On the bright side, my boyfriend and his friends would absolutely slay this edition! I’ll keep this in our pile of games in case his friends decide to play. I would be interested in watching them; it would probably be hilarious! The game also comes with a scorecard, pencil, and timer.

Liquid Therapy Paper Party Straws | $6.99
This is the “box surprise” that is the variable item in each month’s box. I saw some subscribers received a bottle stopper, but I’m happy with my paper straws. Again, these look like they’re straight out of Pinterest! Chevron patterned paper straws are huge right now, and I love the little cards attached to them. These straws would be excellent for an alcohol-heavy party, especially paired with the cocktail napkins!

I really loved the box this month! I was actually a little blown away by how impressed I was with this box. The value is the highest we’ve seen so far at $60.67. That’s triple the cost, which is amazing. I thought the curation was incredibly appropriate and well thought out. Every item made sense and really helped the theme. I remember trying to guess what items we would receive in this box when the theme spoiler came out last month, and I’m happy to report that 2 out of my 3 wishes came true! I wanted “a cute set of dipping bowls” (which the spoons could easily work as), and “pretty napkins”. Definitely very happy that I got both, plus a lot of awesome extras I didn’t even think about.

May is now my favorite Peaches and Petals box that I have received thus far. And the best part? They’re actually still selling May boxes right now! You can totally snag this box if you want it! And you can get it as your first box for only $10 with promo code PEACHMAY50. That’s a total steal.

Next month’s theme will be: Under the Boardwalk.

Any guesses on what we’ll be seeing? I would love a towel or a breezy cover-up. Maybe sunscreen? I could always use more sunscreen!
