POPSUGAR Must Have June 2016 Box Review plus Gift with Purchase

It’s not a good sign when I receive a box and leave it unopened for several days. I don’t have enough restraint to do that for all the boxes that I’m excited for! But unfortunately, this month’s POPSUGAR Must Have box was completely forgotten after I picked it up from the post office. I peeked at spoilers (of course) and I knew what was in it, and found the contents rather disappointing. Not sure what’s up, since last month’s box wasn’t up my alley either. And trust me, I usually adore my POPSUGAR boxes. Hopefully this is just a temporary lull and July will be perfect for me.

POPSUGAR Must Have is a subscription service that sends a variety of items for women that are curated by the POPSUGAR editors. Items typically include food, beauty, home, among other miscellaneous things. Each month is $39.99/month, but you can use the code REFER5 to get $5 off your first month. Or, you can use the gift with purchase code at the bottom of this post.

I really do like this new layout for all the cards though! It feels really posh.

I appreciate the red, white, and blue color coordination going on with this box! It was so visually appealing upon opening.

Pacifica Underarm Deodorant Wipes | $9.00
I know and like the Pacifica brand, but have never seen these before so it’s nice to get to try it. These are vegan, aluminum-free, and paraben-free. It smells like coconut oil, which isn’t my favorite scent but it sure beats sweaty armpits! Houston’s humidity is through the roof right now, so I will definitely use these. I wish they had some antiperspirant in them though, since that would be so much more useful!

NCLA Born on the 4th Nail Lacquer | $16.00
While I love this patriotic and fun sparkly polish, I know I’ll never use this whole bottle. But it definitely feels so festive and I’ll be rocking it this summer! Very happy that POPSUGAR sent it in the June box though, giving ample time to use it in time for July 4th. I’ve tried NCLA before and found the formula to be decent. It’s easy to apply and dries beautifully, but it does seem to chip a little faster than I would like. Maybe this glitter one will be more sturdy though!

Hat Attack Neutral Diamonds Printed Sarong | $58.00
I didn’t take my sarong out of the packaging because I’ll be gifting it, but on the left is the picture that POPSUGAR shared and on the right is a close up shot of the pattern. It’s a really cute sarong but I have lots of swim coverups right now. My friend’s birthday is coming up and I know she would adore this. I’m confident in the quality since I own 2 Hat Attack products that have held up really well over time.

Sister of Los Angeles “Cheers” Gold Bottle Opener | $12.00
Gorgeous! I wish I needed another bottle opener because it’s a great quality piece and so very beautiful. It will go in the gift pile, maybe paired with some craft beers for a casual housewarming gift.

Wild and Wolf Ridley’s Games Room “Who Am I?” Quiz | $12.95
Kudos for the lovely packaging and striking print! This game isn’t really for me (trust me, I would be so bad at it…) so it’ll go in the gift pile. I appreciate the inclusion of a game item though, since it feels more unique than the usual stuff that comes in subscription boxes.

Knock Knock Are You Ready (For Your Close-Up?) Compact | $10.00
My least favorite item in the box. I hate to be so negative, but I think this is a really clunky design that just doesn’t work for me. It also feels kind of flimsy and the plastic surface will scratch easily. To me, it resembles a pill container or something you could buy for really cheap at a gift shop for a child or something. Disappointed because I love Knock Knock products–they have such clever things!

On the inside it says “For Your Close-Up?”

Pressels Sriracha | $1.29
Really good! I love sriracha (who doesn’t???) so this is a no brainer. The fact that it’s baked and has less fat than regular potato chips is also a win. This is a really tiny bag, which I should probably be grateful for…but I’m left wanting more. I would have loved a huge bag of this! I miss the old days when POPSUGAR would send full sized snack products. I still remember the gigantic bag of popcorn!

POPSUGAR Must Have June 2016 Box Review plus Gift with Purchase

Overall, the value is $119.24 but the box feels really light. It feels like it’s missing a luxe product or something. Most of the value comes from smaller $12-$16 items so it kind of feels like lots of filler.

I’m not saying this is a bad box. It just wasn’t very exciting for me. I’ll use some of the products and be able to gift the others, but none of them feel “must have” and I’m not wowed by anything. And I’m sure you’ve noticed that it’s a short review. I just didn’t have that much to say about the products this month. Underarm wipes and nail polish are practical and will get used but there’s really not very much to say about them besides “they’re practical and will get used”.

This is the second month in a row that I’ve gotten boxes that aren’t really for me, but I’ve been a subscriber for 2 years now and have loved most of the shipments. I have high hopes for July and can’t wait to see what kind of summer staples they’ll be sending.
