Serendipity by Little Lace Box September 2016 Box Review plus $100 Off Coupon!

Okay, exciting news! Little Lace Box is having the best sale I’ve ever seen from them, so I’ve officially (finally!) subscribed to the full Little Lace Box! Can’t wait to get my first box, which will be in December. Stay tuned for reviews, y’all 🙂 Meanwhile, here’s my Serendipity review for September.

Serendipity by Little Lace Box is a bi-monthly subscription by the same people who run the original Little Lace Box. Serendipity is only $12.99/shipment ($9.99/shipment if you get a whole year), and sends out a collection of 5-7 items that “celebrate life, celebrate style, and celebrate you”. The shipments for the two boxes alternate, so if you subscribe to both Little Lace Box and Serendipity, you’ll receive a LLB in August and a Serendipity box in September. There’s no overlap at all. And while Little Lace Box has a theme for each shipment, Serendipity does not. Sign ups for Serendipity are often sold out and open briefly when new spots become available, so if you’re interested I would check the website every now and then to keep tabs! Usually spots open up when the shipments go out.

And now, super exciting news: now through 10/10, Little Lace Box has discounts available for a single box, 6-month, or 12-month subscriptions!

  • Use code FRIENDS to save $25 on a single box (regularly $59.99).
  • Use code FRIENDS3 to save $60 on a 6-month subscription(regularly $149.99) + a $15 eGift card to use toward your purchase of merchandise from the online store. (Brings cost down to $29.67 a box.)
  • Use code FRIENDS6 to save $100 on a 12-month subscription (regularly $269.95) + a $25 eGift Card to use toward your purchase of merchandise from the online store. (Brings cost down to $28.32 a box)

The box shipped a little later than usual, which is why I actually received it in October. Usually I do receive my boxes in the correct month though.

Boot Cuffs & Socks | $6.99
Subscribers either received Taupe (which is what I received), Ivory, White, or Mint. I’m happy that all the colors were neutral so I would have been fine with any variation. I haven’t received boot cuffs/socks from a box before so this is fun and new! These are meant to be worn with ankle boots, but since I tend to wear taller boots I’m gifting this to a friend who adores booties.

Karista’s Kitchen Spices | $17.97
This is a set of 3 different spices: Korintji Cinnamon, Smoked Sweet Paprika, and Matcha Sea Salt. At first I saw the almost $18 value and was like whoa, that seems overpriced! But then I actually thought about it and remembered that spices are really expensive! Especially high quality spices. So after some though, I think the value seems very fair to me. I am so excited to use the cinnamon, and have already used the paprika and salt. Delicious! I’ve never used matcha salt before and it was unique and wonderful. I’m convinced that anything matcha is going to be amazing. I also appreciate that they included recipe cards for each spice.

Kilner Square Clip Top Spice Jar | $5.99
Very useful little spice jar! Kilner is a UK based brand and their products are very well made and my go-to for canning/preserves. This little jar is so adorable and a thoughtful inclusion for this box. I would really like to buy a few more so I can have a nice little line up in my kitchen! I also use this style of jar to store my loose teas and they work wonderfully.

Handwrytten Card | $4.99
Subscribers received a promo code for a free hard at Handwrytten.com. It’s a service to sends out handwritten cards on your behalf. I guess I don’t really understand the appeal of this service, since I love writing my own cards and I feel like the effort of writing it is kind of the point? And most of my friends recognize my handwriting, so it would be very strange to receive a handwritten card from me that is in a completely different hand. And for $4.99 it seems quite steep–you can get a lovely letterpressed card plus a stamp for that price! Take a minute to write your own card, your friends will appreciate the effort!

Overall I would consider it a good box. It’s not as amazing as some of the previous boxes, but considering I paid only $10 it’s amazing that the total is $35.94! Every month I ask myself “how do they do it?”, because I’m sure just the shipping cost is at least $2 for them. And it really does deliver a dose of serendipity for me! It’s such a low cost that it never feels like a gamble, and the curation is always so on point that it truly delights me!
