The Honest Company Baby Essentials Bundle Review plus Promo Code

I haven’t reviewed a bundle from The Honest Company in a very long time! We consistently subscribe but we tend to stick to our favorites and it would be rather tedious to keep reviewing the exact same products every couple of months. But one of my very good friends recently had a baby and I decided to mail her a little care package–and of course I just had to include some Honest products! She called me raving about her favorite items so I thought it would be nice to do a new review of the baby products that I sent her. (By the way, the subscription model is amazing for new moms! She’s thrilled she can have all her cleaning products mailed to her so she doesn’t have to make a trip to the store and lug all the heavy stuff back!)

The Honest Company delivers family necessities directly to your door, and you can choose between three different plans: Diapers & Wipes Bundle (exactly as it sounds, it’s diapers and baby wipes), Essentials Bundle (cleaning supplies and body products), and a Health & Wellness Bundle (vitamins). All their products are eco-friendly without harsh chemicals, and almost their entire collection are vegan! I subscribe to the Essentials Bundle, which costs $35.95 per box. It comes out to $7.19 per item! It’s completely customizable (you log in and select the products you want in your bundle), and you can choose when you want the box delivered. With each box, you can also order 3 additional items with a 25% discount. Overall, I find it to be a really good deal. If you’re interested in getting started, use promo code INVITED10 for $10 off your first bundle.

Organic Belly Balm | $15.95
My friend swears that this stuff does work! She was very worried about stretch marks so she was using this at least once a day. The balm softens and melts when you apply it, so it goes on very smooth and the jar lasts a long time. One thing she really appreciated about this balm is that it’s unscented. She said she went through periods when she would feel nauseous from almost any scent, so it was really important for her to have an unscented balm to use.

Organic Nipple Balm | $13.95
I have never had kids before so I didn’t even know nipple balm was a thing until I saw it as one of my bundle options, but apparently it’s very important! She said this was a total lifesaver when she was nursing and her nipples were very sore and inflamed. The best part about this balm is that it’s made with USDA certified organic ingredients and made with all food grade ingredients, so you don’t have to wipe it off before nursing. Even though it’s a small container, it lasts a very long time. The small size is really convenient for tucking into a diaper bag or bringing it anywhere on the go.

Soothing Baby Bottom Wash | $9.95
My friend is very eco-conscious so she chooses not to use disposable baby wipes. I got her this bottom wash and also several soft cloth wipes that can be thrown into the washing machine. This bottom wash contains organic aloe to sooth skin and also has botanical extracts to clean. It’s all natural, hypoallergenic, is made without sulfates, phthalates, parabens, fragrances, and dyes.

The Honest Company Baby Essentials Bundle Review plus Promo Code

Diaper Rash Cream | $9.95
This is the only product I sent that she felt was unnecessary. Which is kind of funny, since I thought this would be the most useful item! It turns out that it’s pretty similar to the healing balm, but the healing balm actually works even better for diaper rash! She likes the slimmer packaging of this cream, so she said she keeps this one in her diaper bag and the healing balm at home.

The Honest Company Baby Essentials Bundle Review plus Promo Code

Organic Healing Balm | $12.95
This isn’t specific to baby, since I keep several tubes of it in my own household. But it’s my favorite product that Honest makes and I think everyone should try it. I sent it to my friend and it’s actually her favorite product too! She said it’s a miracle worker for diaper rash! She’s started using it for herself and her husband as well–it’s perfect for cuts, scrapes, blisters, etc. I’ve even used it as a substitute for lip balm before and had great results.

The Honest Company Baby Essentials Bundle Review plus Promo Code

The total value of my bundles comes to $62.75. I’m very happy with the value, since it’s about 40% off the sticker price for all the items! And my friend really enjoyed all her goodies. I now have a list of things to buy for future baby showers!

I say this with every review that I do for Honest: the essentials bundle is always a good deal if you’re willing to do the math and if you want some of the pricier items. If you only want 5 items that are on the cheaper side (wipes, dryer cloths, soap, etc.), you’re better off buying them individually. If you’re getting the expensive items like the healing balm and belly balm, adding it to a bundle is the way to go. I like to make all 5 of my bundle items the more expensive stuff, since I only pay $35.95 for the bundle. Then I add the cheaper items as my add-ons because I get 25% off. Again, if you want to check out Honest and get your first bundle, use promo code INVITED10 for $10 off!

FabFitFun Summer 2016 Subscription Review plus $10 Off!

After a few delays, I finally have my FabFitFun Summer box in hand! The spoilers came out ages ago and I’ve been dying to get my box to see what variations I received! This is my second FabFitFun box and I’m so glad I decided to sign up last season.

FabFitFun is a quarterly subscription box that sends out beauty, wellness, fashion, and fitness products for $49.99 a box. If you choose to purchase a whole year (4 boxes), the price goes down to $44.99 a box. They promise at least a $200 value in each box, though they sometimes exceed that by quite a bit. If you’re looking for a box that delivers an amazingly great value each time, this is the one!

If you like what you see, the Summer box is still currently available for purchase. Get $10 off (bringing the price down to only $39.99) by using this link. For $39.99, that’s a total steal! That makes it the same price as POPSUGAR Must Have, and with the lackluster couple of PSMH boxes lately this box shines especially bright.

FabFitFun Summer 2016 Subscription Review plus $10 Off!

I really love the box designs! Such adorable illustrations. I’m a sucker for cute packaging!

FabFitFun Summer 2016 Subscription Review plus $10 Off!

Each box comes with a little booklet about the items and interesting articles. This box they featured an interview with Trina Turk that I enjoyed reading.

FabFitFun Summer 2016 Subscription Review plus $10 Off!

Upon first glance I was really happy with my variation colors!

FabFitFun Summer 2016 Subscription Review plus $10 Off!

Trina Turk Tote | $55.00
The yellow tote is the one I wanted, because I love the cheerful color and the phrasing. It’s the perfect summer beach bag! I already used it a bunch of times, and have already gotten compliments on it! Subscribers either received this yellow tote, or an orange one that says “Vitamin Sea” or a navy blue one that says “Seas the Day”.

FabFitFun Summer 2016 Subscription Review plus $10 Off!

Thick rope handles give a really fun nautical feel. I also like that it’s really comfortable on the shoulder. My current beach bag has thin straps that dig into my skin, and once I switched to this bag I’ve converted for good! The yellow canvas is also really thick and sturdy, and best of all–it can go through the wash. I put it through a gentle cycle recently and it came out good as new!

FabFitFun Summer 2016 Subscription Review plus $10 Off!

And heads up, it’s also huge. The width is around 22 inches. It fits so much stuff, I can carry several beach towels and still have room for flip flops and sunscreen.

FabFitFun Summer 2016 Subscription Review plus $10 Off!

Summer & Rose Yoga Towel | $36.00
This is another variation item. The other two options were blue and orange, with the phrases “more happy, less worry” and “dream big” respectively. I wonder if the towels matched the totes, so if you got an orange tote you got an orange towel? I was hoping for the blue towel but the pink would have been my second choice, so I’m pretty happy.

FabFitFun Summer 2016 Subscription Review plus $10 Off!

Cute, right? The hand lettering look is beautiful and really trendy right now. The towel is a microfiber blend and absorbs moisture very well. It’s also machine washable, which is pretty much the most important thing to me. It’s meant to be a yoga towel, but can definitely be used for a variety of purposes.

FabFitFun Summer 2016 Subscription Review plus $10 Off!

Stemulation Daily Micro Derm Scrub | $34.00
Since this is such a huge bottle, I was expecting it to be a really course scrub for the body. It’s actually quite fine and gentle enough for the face. The scrub also works as a cleanser, and it foams up as you massage it in circles. This thing should last me a very long time, and I can’t wait to see the long term results! My skin feels really soft and smooth after using it and I’d love to see if these results are sustainable.

FabFitFun Summer 2016 Subscription Review plus $10 Off!

FabFitFun Every Day Beach Waves Spray | $18.00
This is the only item in the box that I dislike. I’m up to my ears in sea salt/beach hairspray and really don’t need a big full sized one like this. I tried it once pretty half-heartedly because I don’t have much luck with these sprays, and this one didn’t work for me either. It did absolutely nothing except make my hair smell a little nicer…

FabFitFun Summer 2016 Subscription Review plus $10 Off!

Passport to Beauty Gypsetter Luminous Lips in Bohemian Glow | $18.00
I gifted this to a friend because I have so many lippies and she was in search of a new gloss. Subscribers received one out of three color variations, but my friend said the pigment didn’t transfer that well. It’s more a sheer tint of color with a really high gloss factor. She loves how shiny the glossy is, but wishes the color payoff were better.

FabFitFun Summer 2016 Subscription Review plus $10 Off!

Betches Ice Pop Molds | $19.00
This is an exclusive collaboration with FabFitFun. I like the idea of getting ice pop molds, but not sure this is one that I will use. For one thing, they’re pretty small. The plastic sticks also don’t stand up in the liquid on their own, so they come out crooked most of the time. I’ve actually been using this mold as an ice tray.

FabFitFun Summer 2016 Subscription Review plus $10 Off!

The molds are in the shape of champagne bottles. The plastic quality doesn’t seem very high, so I think the $19 value is pretty ridiculous. I bought the most adorable ice trays at IKEA the other day for like $5 that had better silicone. Target also has lovely ice pop molds for under $10.

FabFitFun Summer 2016 Subscription Review plus $10 Off!

OSEA Atmosphere Protection Cream | $48.00
Okay, I love this stuff. I didn’t think I would, but I totally do. It’s lightweight, absorbs quickly, and gives your skin a matte finish. It works really well as a primer and it’s perfect for the hot humid summer days of Houston. I’ve been using it every day since I got my box and love how it feels on my face. The glass bottle is also super chic.

FabFitFun Summer 2016 Subscription Review plus $10 Off!

The box also included some samples for Burt’s Bees BB Cream and Compeed Blister Cushion Packs. I found it kind of weird that this box didn’t include any gift cards, because in the past few boxes they’ve always had at least one gift card. But nonetheless, I did use these samples and actually found the blister cushions pretty useful when I was breaking in a new pair of leather sandals!

FabFitFun Summer 2016 Subscription Review plus $10 Off!

Overall it was a good box for me. I love the tote, the towel, the scrub, and the moisturizer. Seeing as how those are the big ticket items from the box, I would call that a win! The moisturizer is actually a potential holy grail item, and it basically covers the cost of the box! The overall value is $228, which is amazing for a $50 box.

Since this is only my second box, I can’t really attest to the pattern behavior of this subscription. But I do know that both boxes that I’ve received so far are great! I think the team at FFF does a really thoughtful curation of seasonal items. This definitely felt like a summer box to me! Many of the items have already become part of my routine now and I look forward to seeing what amazing goodies they’ll include in the fall box (my favorite season!).

Glossybox May 2016 Review

After the drama from last month’s Glossybox, I was really interested to see what kind of box we would all be receiving. Since I seem to always be one of the last people to receive my box, I get to see what everyone else got in their boxes and get an idea about the different variations that are sent out. I’m happy to report that I got the combination I wanted! Also, the variations didn’t have such a huge price difference this month, which is always a good sign.

Glossybox is $21 a month, or less with a 3 month, 6 month, or annual subscription. Each month you get 5 deluxe sized beauty samples, and sometimes they’ll send out full sized products as well. They aim to send high end brands, but in the past I’ve seen some lower price point items as well. If you’re interested in signing up but not in a rush, it might be worth waiting for a good deal to come around if you don’t want to pay full price. I certainly would not be shelling out the full $21/month for this subscription.

Glossybox May 2016 Review

Box looked more substantial this month! The sizes seemed a bit bigger than what the past couple months have been.

Glossybox May 2016 Review

RITUALS Cosmetics Shower Foam in Zensation | $3.75
Very pleased to see a RITUALS item in this box. I love this brand! It feels very luxurious yet is reasonably priced. I usually buy a few of the shower gels from Barney’s when they have the gift with purchase beauty events. This shower gel turns into a soft foamy texture when you use it, and is very gentle on the skin. It also smells absolutely divine! At $12 for the full size (which lasts forever, by the way), it’s a nice little treat that doesn’t break the bank. I’m glad to have a travel sized one now, thanks to Glossybox.

Glossybox May 2016 Review

Talika Photo-Hydra Day | $39.50
Yay for more French beauty items! I do enjoy discovering European brands through Glossybox and think that is currently their most interesting selling point. This is a lightweight gel moisturizer and I’m surprised by how much I like it. I usually don’t like gel moisturizers, but this one is so lightweight and works really well with my skin. My face feels moisturized and soft, but there wasn’t any shininess that I had to cover up with powder. I’m glad we got such a large bottle to play around with. If my skin doesn’t react poorly after this tube, I will probably purchase more.

Glossybox May 2016 Review

Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme Anti-Aging Creme | $8.50
This was the item I was hoping to get, so I was really happy when I saw this in my box! Usually my main issue with Estee Lauder products is the heavy fragrance used in many of the creams. This moisturizer has a light fragrance that I found quite refreshing, and it definitely gave my skin a great boost of moisture when I used it overnight.

Glossybox May 2016 Review

The cream has a thick texture and feels like it’s going to be heavy, but it actually absorbs really quickly and well. I would only use it as a night moisturizer though, since I think it would be hard to apply makeup on top of the moisturizer.

Glossybox May 2016 Review

Benefit Roller Lash | $8.00
As much as I like this mascara, I’m not excited about this sample at all. It feels similar to when we got a sample of Benefit’s POREfessional a couple months ago–I love the product, but the sample is so easy to obtain. Sephora gave these mini mascaras out for free when the product first went on the market, and I’ve gotten several of them within the past year. I just feels boring and old to get another roller lash mascara sample from a box that is supposed to be “luxe” and “full sized”. With all that being said, I do like this mascara. It doesn’t provide much volume for me, but it gives great curl and length. I like to layer it with my current favorite, Armani’s Eyes To Kill.

Glossybox May 2016 Review

NIOXIN System 3 Cleanser and Scalp Therapy Conditioner | $10.00
I’m a bit confused about these products, since it’s not entirely clear if this is meant for people who are currently worried about thinning hair but still have normal hair, or if it’s meant for people who are already dealing with thinning hair. Either way, I don’t think I really fall into either category. If anything, my hair is too thick! I was hoping it would maybe provide a lot of volume, since my hair is thick but tends to lie flat (or get really frizzy). Unfortunately, it doesn’t deliver any additional volume. The cleanser claims to “help remove follicle-clogging sebum, fatty acids and environmental residues from the scalp skin”, thus stimulating more hair growth in the future. Not sure how effective this is, but it’s just not a product I’m that interested in.

Glossybox May 2016 Review

Overall, it was a decent box. I found a moisturizer that I really like, and got travel sized versions of two products I already use. The value comes out to $69.75, which is more than triple the cost of the box.

My main issue with this subscription is the same thing I’ve been talking about for months now: it doesn’t feel exciting. Some of the products that Glossybox sends are items that have already been featured in boxes before, so there isn’t a sense of discovery. With so many other beauty subscription boxes out there, I feel like Glossybox can’t really claim to be a “luxury” box or a “full sized” box. Not a single item I got in my May box was full sized! Glossybox also sends out variations for their boxes but does not take your profile into account, so there’s no guarantee that you’ll be getting the products that match with your interests/lifestyle/skin tone. Everyone got the same shampoo and conditioner for thinning hair, even though that’s a vey specific concern. It just feels odd to send it to everyone!

The one thing I really do enjoy about Glossybox is the inclusion of international brands. It’s fun to get European products and I think they’re the only beauty box that consistently offers brands from Europe month after month. Despite that,  I don’t see myself resubscribing when my year is up. And definitely not for the full price.

The Honest Company Essentials Bundle Review plus Promo Code

It’s been a long time since my last review fromThe Honest Company, because I tend to buy the same cleaning supplies over and over again and it just doesn’t make much sense to keep reviewing them. But this time I have a bunch of new products that I haven’t tried before that I absolutely love so I’m going to review another Essentials bundle.

The Honest Company Essentials Bundle Review plus Promo Code

I actually wasn’t planning to order another bundle until after my move in June, but The Honest Company sent out a really great promo code that I just had to take advantage of. For each bundle shipping out between a specific time slot (I think it was until the end of May), current subscribers were allowed to pick out a free gift. Now usually when I hear that, I’m expecting wipes or something on the lower price range. But they had some amazing items that you could get for free! I was able to snag a 2 in 1 Nursing Cover/Scarf for free, and it usually retails for almost $40! Seriously! I honestly love it when subscription companies reward their current subscribers and wish more companies would do it. I always see phenomenal deals that are for new customers only, but what about loyal customers that have stuck with the company for years? It’s great to know that Honest appreciates my business and rewards loyalty with these kinds of perks.

Honest Conditioner | $9.95 each
I went a little conditioner crazy with this bundle! I was running low on conditioner and couldn’t decide on a scent so just decided to get all three. Good logic, right? I’ve been using it for almost a week now and I love how my hair feels. It’s light and washes out easily and well. I like to air dry my hair and in the morning it feels soft, silky, and hydrated but not weighed down. The sweet orange vanilla scent is my favorite–it smells just like orange sherbet and makes me really excited about summer. My friend who is visiting me adores anything and everything lavender scented so I put it in the guest bathroom for her. I think I’ve got her hooked on Honest products now as well! The apricot kiss is the only scent that I was disappointed in. It’s not bad or anything, I just can’t really smell it. If you’re looking for a very lightly fragranced conditioner, I would give it a try!

Organic Shave Oil | $15.95
New holy grail! I’m so glad I found this oil. At first I was disappointed in how small the bottle is (2.25 fl oz), but a little goes a long way. I was able to get the closest shave I’ve ever gotten with this shave oil! With shorts season already starting here in Houston, this is something I’m going to need more of. It does have a strong herbal smell to it and it has botanical extracts and oils, so if you’re sensitive to that I wouldn’t recommend this. But otherwise I would say give it a chance, because you will get such a smooth shave that leaves your legs super hydrated with a slight glow. I’m so impressed!

The Honest Company Essentials Bundle Review plus Promo Code

Organic Dish Towels | $11.95
I’ve gotten these dish towels before and they’ve become a staple in my bundles. I love having new towels in the kitchen, and when they get old and gross I use them as all purpose rags around the house for cleaning. They’re surprisingly great for cleaning mirrors and windows, since they don’t leave lint behind! These dish towels also hold up really well in the wash.

The Honest Company Essentials Bundle Review plus Promo Code

The back side is textured so it has a decent grip and is effective at scrubbing.

Honest 2 in 1 Cover + Scarf | $39.97
And finally, the free gift! I’m still so surprised I got this for free. At first I was going to keep it for myself as a regular scarf, since I really like the color and lightweight material. But then I remembered that I have way too many scarves and I have a friend who is pregnant who could probably use this way more than I will. I was already planning to gift her a diaper subscription from Honest, so this ties in really nicely!

The Honest Company Essentials Bundle Review plus Promo Code

The fabric is a very lightweight cotton and is perfect for summer–so breezy and breathable. It’s also a huge size! Definitely very versatile, and I like that it’s fashionable enough to be a scarf. Hope she loves it!

The Honest Company Essentials Bundle Review plus Promo Code

My bundle value came to $57.75, and with the free gift it gets bumped up to a whopping $97.72! An amazing deal that I am more than happy with. Personally I think the essentials bundle is always a good deal if you’re willing to do the math and if you want some of the pricier items. If you only want 5 items that are on the cheaper side (wipes, dryer cloths, soap, etc.), you’re better off buying them individually. If you’re getting the expensive items like the shave oil, adding it to a bundle is the way to go. I like to make all 5 of my bundle items the more expensive stuff, since I only pay $35.95 for the bundle. Then I add the cheaper items as my add-ons because I get 25% off. Again, if you want to check out Honest and get your first bundle, use promo code INVITED10 for $10 off!

I’m very happy to have discovered the shave oil and the conditioner, and they will become new staples to my bundle. But what I’m even more pleased with is the great promotion that Honest offered to their existing customers! Other subscription companies, please take note! I’m sure attracting new customers makes sense from a business perspective, but retaining loyal customers should be important as well. It can be hurtful to loyal customers who have been paying full price for months to see newcomers or month-by-month customers getting large discounts. I see it all too often and sometimes I get annoyed. Just saying.

Beauty DNA December 2015 Box Review

One of my favorite subscription discoveries of this year is Beauty DNA, which I have had for several months now. I’m always so excited to see the box on my doorstep and my matches have been fantastic. It’s a subscription that I have already gifted for Christmas to a bunch of girlfriends and definitely see myself continuing to subscribe for a long time!

Beauty DNA is a monthly subscription service that sends you one full sized beauty item based on your profile. When you first sign up, you fill out a pretty detailed profile on your preferences, and the experts at Beauty DNA will match you with a product that they think works best for you. For $25/month, you’ll receive an item from one of three categories: skincare, hair products, and body. Usually they alternate what category you receive between months, so you won’t end up getting a bunch of hair products consecutively.

Beauty DNA December 2015 Box Review

This month I actually got 2 matches (yay!), probably because my main item is of a relatively low value. I love that they really seem to take retail value into consideration and will send bonus items when you get a cheaper product.

Beauty DNA December 2015 Box Review

Keranique Volumizing Keratin Conditioner | $30.00
I’m not someone who usually splurges on shampoo and conditioner, so I am always very happy to get expensive brands through subscription boxes. I have hair that goes down to my mid back and I go through lots of conditioner, which is why I was actually very pleased with this match! Even though the retail value is low, it’s something I plan to use all of and is a luxurious little treat. The conditioner feels great, washes out clean, and leaves my hair shiny without feeling weighed down.

Beauty DNA December 2015 Box Review

Osmosis Skincare Purify | $21.00
This is my bonus match, and I actually really like it so far. The brand is completely new to me but I see lots of great reviews and the ingredients list looks promising. I have only used it for a few days but it’s gentle, doesn’t leave residue, and my face feels less oily during the day. This could be a keeper when I run out!

Beauty DNA December 2015 Box Review

I really appreciate that even my bonus item came with the full match card. For the unaware: every month Beauty DNA sends out a personalized card explaining why you received the product(s) that you did. The bold text indicates the portions of your profile that prompted the match. It’s really useful because it gives you a good overview of what to expect, and is also helpful if you want to prevent future matches for items you don’t want. For example, if I had hated the cleanser, I would go back in my profile and remove the “gel formulation” part of my profile.

Beauty DNA December 2015 Box Review

Overall it was another great month for me. I got two products, totaling $51.00 retail value. I plan to finish both and they seem to be good matches for me. I love getting to try full sized products from brands I have never heard of, and receiving products that I normally would never pay full price for. Can’t wait to see what Beauty DNA has is store for me in the upcoming year — it’s been a great 2015!
