Emma & Chloe Jewelry Box July 2017 Review

Another Emma & Chloe review today! I’m still slowly catching up on everything since my trip, but I’m happy to say that at least this review is going up in the correct month. Granted it’s the last day of the month but hey, I’ll take it. Oh and just wanted to say thanks so much for your patience, my amazing readers! I appreciate each and every one of you.

Emma & Chloe Jewelry Box is a monthly jewelry club that represents independent, up-and-coming French jewelry designers. In addition to their monthly shipments, you can also purchase jewelry from their online boutique.

Every month they feature a designer and send a surprise piece of jewelry, though you can choose if you prefer gold or silver and whether or not you have pierced ears. If you do the month to month plan, it’s $35/month. If you prepay, the price goes down to $33/month for a 3 month subscription, $31/month for a 6 month subscription, and $29/month for a 12 month subscription. The unique piece of jewelry is always valued between $50 and $200, so you’re getting a significant discount no matter what option you choose.

Emma & Chloe Jewelry Box July 2017 Review

As always, I have to comment on how much I love the packaging! The black box ships inside a padded envelope so it arrives in pristine condition. The boxes are very sturdy and I always reuse them for gifting and storing jewelry.

Each month comes with a little magazine that includes an interview with the featured designer, styled pictures of the jewelry, fun articles about France, and some styling/fashion tips. The magazine is thoughtfully curated, beautifully designed, and always something that I read cover to cover.

I love the articles about France! Every month it makes me want to book a vacation right away. I think the inclusion of such a lovely little magazine definitely adds value to the subscription. It makes the entire subscription feel very luxe and I honestly do look forward to reading the articles inside. I’m obsessed with all things French!

Nilai Summer Bangle Cauri | $55.00
I’m happy to see another bracelet! This piece is made of brass and gilded with 18k gold. It’s also available in silver, if you had silver for your jewelry preference in your profile.

This month the bangle is super summer-y and feels like a piece that you would wear for a beach destination. The ends are little cowrie shell shapes! The open bangle style makes it easy to adjust and the ends are rounded so it’s pretty comfortable to wear.

Each month comes with a certificate of authenticity! On the back it includes instructions for how to take care of your jewelry and how to clean it.

While this piece isn’t my favorite, I’ll definitely still wear it. I like how it looks on my wrist but it’s a little too style-specific for me. It feels like something that can only be worn during summer because the cowrie shells are very prominent. As a result, I think it’s less versatile than your average Emma and Chloe jewelry.

I think this would look really pretty if it were layered with some other bangles and bracelets! I can picture myself pairing it with some pretty beaded bracelets while vacationing at a beach resort. A girl can dream, right?

One thing I want to point out is the casting detail on the cowrie shell! It’s very well made (typical for Emma and Chloe!) and is a high quality piece. It definitely looks expensive. In fact, I can totally picture it being sold at Anthropologie!

While this isn’t my favorite piece, it’s still something that I will wear during the summer. And you can’t deny the quality is excellent. I know this bangle will hold up better than a lot of my other costume jewelry pieces.

One thing I love about the Emma and Chloe subscription model is that they rotate what they send every month. For example, if you sign up for a 4 month subscription you’ll never end up with 4 necklaces, or 4 pairs of earrings. It’s more likely that you will receive 1 necklace, 1 bracelet, 1 pair of earrings, and 1 ring. I love that you’re able to really build a nice collection of jewelry over the course of your subscription!

Anyways, my verdict is unchanged: Emma and Chloe is a great subscription for those who are looking to build a collection. You’ll receive high quality pieces that are classic and timeless. You will also discover amazing French designers! I love that I have so much unique jewelry that isn’t easy to find in the US. If you love French design, French culture, and jewelry, I think you’ll really enjoy Emma and Chloe!

Emma & Chloe Jewelry Box April 2017 Review

Just got back from a 2 week long trip, so now I’m trying to catch up on all the April stuff I missed! That’s another great part about subscription boxes: I always come home to a neat little pile of goodies! It’s like having several welcome home presents to myself. Anyways, the first box I went for when I got back was my Emma and Chloe box! I already knew what I would be receiving since they sent out spoilers, but I just had to try on my bracelet right away.

One thing I really appreciate about this box of their great packaging! I think it really adds value to a subscription. The black box ships in a bubble mailer so it’s pristine upon arrival. The box is sturdy and pretty enough to use for storing your jewelry if you don’t use a jewelry box. I like to reuse my boxes for gifting.

Another part of what makes this subscription special is the thoughtful zine that comes every month. There’s plenty of information about the featured designer but also fun articles about French culture, styling tips, and a little quiz at the end. I’m impressed that they’re able to put out one of these every month!

For me, the little magazine adds value to the subscription since it’s something I look forward to and the content is meaningful. Every month I read it cover to cover!

Coralie De Seynes Bronze Torsade Bracelet | $63.00
As soon as I saw the spoilers, I knew this was going to be perfect for me! Even though I tend to prefer dainty jewelry, the sleek and simple design of this bracelet is a great “statement” piece for me. It’s classic and elegant but still modern and on trend. Can you tell I really love it? Definitely my favorite piece from Emma and Chloe so far!

Pictures don’t do this bracelet any justice. It’s truly stunning and even my husband (who certainly doesn’t have an eye for detail) noticed I was wearing a new bracelet and commented on how unique it is! I have gold listed as my preferred finish but this is one of those months that I wish I could have both versions. The silver one is beautiful too!

The bracelet is a little over 7 inches long and with the chain it can be an additional 2 inches. It closes with a sturdy lobster clasp. Due to the way the bracelet is braided, it wears like a cross between a bangle and a soft bracelet. The chain provides a lot of structure so it holds its own shape very well. But it’s obviously more malleable than an actual bangle too. I hope that made sense!

Here’s a little bit of a better shot of the details. See how pretty it is? I love the texture! This is an item that can be easily dressed up for a special occasion but also works as an everyday piece. Emma and Chloe seems to be especially good at finding versatile jewelry like that, which I’m very happy about.

Every month comes with a postcard that features a picture of the jewelry. I rarely have a use for them, but this month subscribers received a piece of dark chocolate as well! What a lovely little extra! I’ll never say no to chocolate.

Another month, another beautiful piece of jewelry! I love that I’m slowly filling up my jewelry box with lots of fun and classic pieces. The quality is also good for costume jewelry and I know they will last me if I take proper care of them.

I only have one small complaint about this month, which is that the stated retail value is inconsistent. In the spoiler, they said the value of the bracelet is $63. In the magazine, it’s listed as $76. If you go to the designer’s website and convert from euros to dollars, it’s about $67. I personally chose to go with the lowest of the numbers just to err on the side of caution, which is $63. It’s still great for the cost of the subscription, but inconsistent values are one of my pet peeves.

Anyways, my verdict for this box is always the same. I love it! It’s a great subscription if you’re someone who values quality over quantity and enjoy French design. There are other jewelry subscription boxes out there that send more items each month, but the quality is significantly lower. If you like to discover new brands, like to support small designers, and love jewelry, you’ll probably enjoy this subscription just as much as I do!

I ADORN U Mystery Box from JewelMint

I got my first mystery box from JewelMint, and I have to say I’m pretty pleased. This was the first time JewelMint offered a designer specific mystery box, and I really hope they do more in the future. I usually don’t like JewelMint mystery boxes because there are so many styles and I don’t love them all, but when it’s narrowed down to a specific designer I feel much more inclined to take a little risk. JewelMint offered two different boxes, one featuring designer I ADORN U and another one featuring Olive Yew. I ordered both, but the Olive Yew one hasn’t been delivered yet. Stay tuned for that review in a few days!

This mystery box is $39.99 and comes with 3 pieces. Each box comes ready for holiday gifting, which was a really cute touch. It was another reason I felt comfortable buying this box. If I don’t love the pieces, I’m sure one of my friends will! Oh, and this box is still available! I’m not sure for how much longer, probably until they sell out, so if you’re interested definitely grab one soon. The Olive Yew box is already sold out.

I ADORN U JewelMint Collective Mystery BoxBaby Blue Bracelet with Pyrite | $12.00
Not something I would pick out for myself, but I think it could be cute with some of my outfits. I have a lot of similar blues in my wardrobe, so the color was spot on! I know there is also a bright pink version, and I’m so glad I got this one instead.

I ADORN U JewelMint Collective Mystery Box BraceletThe pyrite is a great touch! It adds a little bit of edge, but is still subtle and sophisticated. I hate it when designers use cheap rhinestones to add a bit of bling to jewelry! I’m definitely more into natural stones and minerals like this.

I ADORN U JewelMint Collective Mystery Box BraceletLittle Gold Arrow Earrings | $18.00
Love! They’re small and cute and great for casual days. I love how light they are as well. I think I’ll get a lot of uses out of these!

I ADORN U JewelMint Collective Mystery Box Arrow EarringsLittle Elephant Necklace | $25.00 (?)
I’ve been looking for this necklace everywhere to try and get a price, but didn’t find anything. I’m estimating it to be around $25 based on similar items that I ADORN U sells. This also isn’t a piece I would pick out for myself, but it’s very dainty and cute. I’m also liking the fact that the attached stone is blue! Just like with the bracelet, this piece will work well with most of my closet.

I ADORN U JewelMint Collective Mystery Box ElephantOverall, this was a good box for me. I loved the earrings and will definitely wear the other two pieces. I paid $39.99 and got approximately $55 worth of jewelry, so no complaints. That’s not an amazing deal, but it’s always really fun to get mystery boxes and it helps me get some pieces that I otherwise wouldn’t have tried. I appreciate how they included one bracelet, one pair of earrings, and one necklace. I hope they did that for all the boxes! So did you get this mystery box? If so, I’d love to see what you received!

As always, all views in this review are the opinion of the author. Nothing was received in exchange for a review, and I am not affiliated with JewelMint or I ADORN U.

RocksBox September Review

I was pleasantly surprised with my first Rocksbox today. Rocksbox is a subscription service for jewelry, but it’s different from a regular subscription box because it’s more like jewelry rental. For $19/month you get 3 different pieces sent to you, and after 60 days you can send them back for 3 new items. If you happen to love any of the jewelry, you can keep it and they will charge your credit card for the amount listed on the packing slip. For a picky person like myself (especially when it comes to jewelry), this is a fantastic idea.

If you’re curious about RocksBox and want to try it, you can click here and use the code FriendsRock to get your first month free!

This box arrived inside a padded envelope, which also included a return envelope to send the jewelry back in. The box itself is really quite nice, and I think it’s perfect for gift-giving.

My first piece is a pair of Green Glass Earrings from David Aubrey, valued at $32.00. With the RocksBox 20% discount, I can purchase it for $25.60. Unfortunately, it’s not really my style and feels a bit on the heavy side for earrings.

rocksbox4My second piece is the Chaplin Bracelet from Gorjana, valued at $50.00. I have a few pieces from Gorjana and know that the quality is not bad. I like the minimal style of the bracelet, but I found it to be a little on the small side. It fits perfectly on my wrist with no extra space (do I have fat wrists??), and I prefer my bracelets a bit on the roomy side. Too bad I probably won’t be keeping this either. rocksbox6

And my third item was supposed to be Wrapped in Gold Mini Earrings Silver with 18K Plate by TZEN, valued at $110.00, but it wasn’t included in the box. It’s on my packing slip and I would have been very excited to try it out, so that was kind of a bummer. I’ve emailed their customer service to see what happened, and they were very helpful and understanding.

rocksbox7While this might sound like a negative review (missing an item and won’t be keeping the other two items), it really isn’t. I forgot to fill out my preferences in my account settings before I got the box, so it’s no surprise the first pair of earrings weren’t my style. As for the missing item, they’re a small company and I’m confident that it’s a rare mistake. I definitely will be trying them for at least another month or two before I make a final decision. So how about you? I’d love to hear from any current subscribers about their experiences!
