Harrison Blake Apparel Subscription April 2017 Box Review plus Promo Code!

I was thrilled to see that Harrison Blake sent me the April box to review! My husband always gets so excited when he gets a box all to himself, and it’s really endearing to see him excited about subscription boxes too.

The Harrison Blake Monthly Subscription is a $25.00 per month subscription (shipping included) that focuses on men’s fashion accessories. Each box is curated around a particular look and color scheme, and includes 1 necktie and 4 additional accessories. Since all the items are meant coordinate together for a cohesive outfit, it’s an easy cheat for the guy who wants to be stylish without having to think too hard about his outfit. All the items are exclusive, so if you like a particular item you would have to subscribe to receive it.

Right now they have a promo code for new subscribers. Use code SEASON to get $15 off your first month! That brings the cost down to only $10, which is a really good deal.

Harrison Blake Apparel Subscription April 2017 Box Review plus Promo Code!

All the items are exclusive to the subscription, so I’ll be using the prices that are listed on the information card. However, I do want to say that you should take these values with a grain of salt. Since the company makes their own products, they can put whatever value they want for each item. I’ve always found the prices to be overinflated for the quality. I’m not saying this box is not worth the cost, just that I personally don’t believe this box should be valued at $110 like the information card states.

IMG_0709

Striped Necktie| $30.00
Every month the main item is a tie that the rest of the box revolves around. They tend to keep the ties seasonal, which I appreciate. In the winter boxes we’ve received thicker textures and darker colors. This one feels very summer and coastal to me. I can really picture my husband wearing this to a nice outdoor wedding. He can’t wear colors this bright at work, but I think it will get a good amount of use at all the weddings we have to go to this year!

IMG_0715

The shape of the tie is classic on the slimmer side. Not quite a skinny tie but skinny enough to be trendy. I hate the look of the really wide ties! My husband has a thinner frame so he looks great with slim ties and he likes the style of this one!

IMG_0716

The back always comes with a Harrison Blake tag, but we’ve found them to be very easy to remove if you wish to do so. My husband was getting annoyed that he had to thread the tie through both the loop and the tag so we just removed the tag easily.

IMG_0717

Cotton Pocket Square |$20.00
It seems that each month you’ll also receive a pocket square to go with the tie. We rarely purchase pocket squares so it’s really nice that they send a matching one each month. I wish this one were a bit more neutral so it could work with other ties as well, but I do admit the colors are a perfect match to the tie.

IMG_0718

Doesn’t it feel really nautical?

IMG_0719

Here’s the tie and pocket square together. They go together beautifully! Just looking at this picture has me dreaming of a summer vacation to Nantucket. This combination would look amazing with a navy colored suit.

IMG_0720

Aviator Sunglasses | $30.00
This is one of the items that makes me question the value stated on the card. Fashion sunglasses like this can be found for really cheap, even brand name ones! The quality of the frames, the lenses, and the case for this pair feels closer to $10 or so.

IMG_0710

With that being said, I really like these aviators. They look great on my husband and he likes how light they are. The shape is classic and flattering for all face shapes. The nose pads are comfortable and adjustable. I think adding the sunglasses was a smart choice for this month! Definitely adds to the summer-y feel of the overall box. I know we always keep several cheap pairs around the house and in the car because we’re both prone to losing/breaking sunglasses.

IMG_0711

White Rosette Lapel Pin | $15.00
I wish this had been a different item since my husband never uses lapel pins, but I understand that’s a personal preference and other people may love using them. I like the fact that it’s white, making it easy to use with lots of outfits. But the quality of this is quite low. It’s another item that has me questioning the sticker value. Even in the picture you can see a loose thread.

IMG_0712

Gold Collar Stays | $15.00
Love the felt case that these collar stays came in! I wish they had just sent a bunch of the cases so I could store all the other collar stays we have in them. Collar stays are another item that we seem to lose a lot, so it’s nice to have more. They have a decent weight to them and feel of good quality.

IMG_0713

Air Freshener | ??
As a bonus item, they also sent a car air freshener. I like that it was a practical extra and tastefully done. I used this in my car and enjoyed the scent. It doesn’t last very long, but was quite pleasant for about a week. In the future I would love to see cute little extras like this!

IMG_0714

I think this is my favorite month so far, because the curation felt really on point and my husband will use almost all of the items. If you have summer weddings on your horizon and want to get some accessories for your date, consider picking up one of these boxes! The color combination is really cute. And since it’s red, white, and blue, it’s also perfect for 4th of July!

Overall I think this subscription is great if you enjoy dressing up/wearing suits and want to build your accessories collection. It’s also more ideal for those who are interested in exploring a bit with their fashion choices. My husband doesn’t get to wear anything remotely exciting to work, so most of the items we get from Harrison Blake is for weekends or special events only. However, if you’re someone who loves trying new colors and mixing patterns and textures, I think you would really enjoy this!

FabFitFun Spring 2017 Subscription Review plus $10 Off!

Whew, finally I get to review my Spring FabFitFun box! Since I’m not an annual subscriber and didn’t purchase any add-ons, I’m at the very end of the shipping schedule. I think annual subscribers got their boxes several weeks ago! But it was absolutely worth the wait. This might be my favorite box from FFF yet!

FabFitFun is a quarterly subscription box that sends out beauty, wellness, fashion, and fitness products for $49.99 a box. If you choose to purchase a whole year (4 boxes), the price goes down to $44.99 a box. They promise at least a $200 value in each box, though they sometimes exceed that by quite a bit. If you’re looking for a box that delivers an amazingly great value each time, this is the one!

Get $10 off (bringing the price down to only $39.99) by using this link. For $39.99, that’s a total steal! That makes it the same price as POPSUGAR Must Have, except the value here is somehow almost double your average POPSUGAR box!

IMG_0753

Look at how beautiful the box design is! I have been really impressed with the last few box designs. I also love that they have a little blurb about the featured box artist every season! This box was created by Cat Coquillette, an independent illustrator.

IMG_0754

Look at all the pretty goodies! Since I got my box so late I already knew what the box would contain. I just can’t help myself when it comes to spoilers!

IMG_0755

I always like to mention how much I enjoy the little insert that comes with each box. It’s always thoughtfully written and interesting to read. It has lots of little tips and tricks for how to use the items, along with interesting interviews and articles. Oh and you know what is super awesome about this box? It focuses on female founded brands! 7 of the 8 items are from brands founded by women, which I think is fantastic.

IMG_0771

Gypsy 05 Roundie | $50.00
This was an item that came with variations, and if you were an annual subscriber you were able to choose your pattern beforehand. Since I subscribe quarterly, I received a random pattern. But since I thought all 3 options were really cute (it was between this blue tie die one, a pastel colored geometric one, and a yellow paisley), I didn’t mind at all. I’m very pleased with the tie die pattern! Initially I was planning to keep this for myself, but one of my best friends just moved into a new apartment and I thought this was be a really cute gift for her!

IMG_0760

Since I gifted mine, I wasn’t able to get a picture of the roundie in all its splendor. I’m adding this lovely photo from My Subscription Addiction below. Cute, right? So perfect for spring and summer!

Fab-fit-fun-spring-2017-0087

Emerald Duv Joshua Tree Cage Bracelet | $80.00
I’m really happy that this was a choice given to all subscribers! You could either choose this bracelet or earrings from LUV AJ. I haven’t been very impressed with LUV AJ in the past so I went with the bracelet and I’m so glad I did. It’s beautiful and fits me perfectly.

IMG_0761

The simple design is exactly my style and the construction is solid. It looks striking on my vanity and I have already received compliments on it! I wish I had bought another spring box just so I could have another one of these cuffs.

IMG_0762

I have been finding excuses to wear this! It’s a piece that is easy to dress up or down, and goes with pretty much everything I own. I can also layer it with bangles for a bold look. I love how versatile it is and I just know it’s going to be a staple for me.

IMG_0764

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Age Defying Exfoliator | $79.00
FabFitFun has really upped their game with the beauty brands! Dr. Brandt is such a wonderful brand with great products, and this is one of their bestselling items! It’s a cult favorite that I’ve bought from Sephora before. It’s a really fine grain exfoliator that leaves your face feeling smooth and polished. I am so excited to have a full sized version of this! A little goes a long way so this large size will last a while.

IMG_0756

Karuna Hydrating+ Face Masks | $28.00
Another amazing beauty item! This is yet another product that I’ve purchased before from Sephora and love. The scent is really subtle and my face feels amazing after I use it. It really packs a punch for skin hydration! I usually keep the mask on for about 25 minutes to give the serum a good long time to sink in.

IMG_0758

The pack comes with 4 individual masks. I really want to buy another pack and host a girls spa night! Or maybe I’ll just hoard all these masks for myself…

IMG_0759

Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray | $20.00
I have been seeing Briogeo products everywhere lately! I have so many hair products that I have been trying to avoid opening any more, but I am really excited to try this one. It has so many glowing reviews! And I know the brand is very gentle on hair and lots of people swear by it. Very pleased to have this on hand so I can try it!

IMG_0757

RealHer Lip Kit in Deep Red | $48.00
This is another item that annual subscribers were allowed to choose (between the options of Deep Red, Deep Nude, and Neutral Pink), but quarterly subscribers were given one at random. I wish I had gotten the nude, since I usually can’t pull off such a dark red. I’ll be passing this one along to a friend.

IMG_0770

The package is sealed with plastic and I didn’t want to open it, but again I’m borrowing a photo from Liz over at My Subscription Addiction. The kit comes with a liquid lipstick, plumping lip gloss, and a lip liner.

FabFitFun Spring 2017 Subscription Review plus $10 Off!

Milly Zip Pouch | $45.00
Surprisingly this is one of my favorite items in this box! It’s a swimsuit bag that is really great quality and has a cute saying on the front. There were 4 variations of this item, but nobody was allowed to choose and everyone was given one at random. The options were: Resting Beach Face (green), Slay All Day (white), Beach Please (blue), and Haute Mess (pink). I was so happy to get my preferred variation!

IMG_0766

The bag is very generously sized, and can also work as a cute clutch for going to the beach. The interior is lined with a waterproof material, so if you put a wet swimsuit inside it will contain that moisture. Super useful so you don’t get all your other stuff wet!

IMG_0767

Deborah Lippmann Nail Polish Set | $19.00
Yet another variation item! They really had lots of variations for this box! Subscribers either received this mini set with Shape Of My Heart (pink) and Like A Virgin (white) or a set with Blue Orchid (blue) and Like A Virgin (white). I’m happy to get the pink. Deborah Lippmann products are usually a splurge for me, so it’s a treat to get their products from a subscription box. As an added bonus, a portion of the proceeds from this set supports MORE THAN ME Foundation, an organization that empowers girls in Liberia.

IMG_0765

The box also included a sponsored extra, which in this case is a mini bottle of Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin, & Nails Gummies. I usually buy these in the large bottles from Costco, and take them daily. I think it’s great that I get a travel sized version now! Personally I think the flavor is yummy — they taste just like strawberry fruit snacks.

IMG_0768

Wow, what a box! It’s my absolute favorite from FabFitFun so far! The value is ridiculously good, as usual. This box comes to a whopping $369.00, which isn’t even counting the bonus vitamins. All the items are exactly what I envision for spring and make me excited for the warm weather.

If you’re interested in getting FabFitFun boxes, get $10 off (bringing the price down to only $39.99) by using this link. For $39.99, that’s a total steal! I promise you that you will not regret it. I am consistently amazed that they are able to pull a box with such high value together and charge such a low rate. I’m so sad that I have to wait until June for my next box!

Rachel Zoe Box of Style Spring 2017 Review plus 35% Off Sale!

It’s time for another Box of Style! I skipped the last two shipments but decided to resubscribe this year and I think it was a great decision. This is definitely my favorite box of the year thus far! I actually like it so much that I’ve immediately bought a second one after I opened the box.

The Rachel Zoe Box of Style is pretty much exactly what it sounds like: a box filled with fashion, beauty, and lifestyle items curated by Rachel Zoe! It’s a quarterly subscription, so it ships in March (Spring), July (Summer), September (Fall), and December (Winter). Every box promises $300+ value for only $100, or you can sign up for a whole year for $350. One thing I really like about this subscription is that it contains a “hero item” for each box that you know about beforehand. It’s the highest value item in the box and it’s generally announced well in advance, giving you plenty of time to decide if you want to purchase the box or not. I think it’s a smart way to ensure your customers are satisfied, because the hero item is always worth more than the cost of the box itself. It’s much easier to justify spending $100 when you know you’ll be getting at least one high value item that you actually want.

And one last thing before I actually get to the review: I wanted to pass along some sale information: you can get this box for only $64.99 right now! Seriously. The Rachel Zoe Box of Style is currently available on Gilt City for $89.99, and if you use coupon code TAKE30 you can take an additional $25.00 off. It’s a crazy good deal! And since the voucher doesn’t expire until May 10th, you can even buy extra vouchers to use for the Summer box!

Rachel Zoe Box of Style Spring 2017 Review plus 35% Off Sale!

This month the box was really full! The sides were bulging and it was a pretty heavy box, which is always a good sign in my opinion.

All the items are individually wrapped in tissue paper. It’s a small thing but I really appreciate that attention to detail. It’s so much fun to unwrap everything! Feels like Christmas morning.

Rachel Zoe Box of Style Spring 2017 Review plus 35% Off Sale!

Their little booklet is always full of great styling tips and interesting tidbits about the products. For this box, they featured all women-founded brands! I absolutely love that!

Tribe Alive Custom Carryall | $238.00
This was the “hero” item for this box. I knew I had to have it as soon as I saw the spoiler pictures! It’s such a perfect bag for warm weather. This bag is not for sale through the official website because it’s an exclusive for Rachel Zoe, but it looks just like a mini version of their Maya bag.  I’ve been seeing a lot of the Tribe Alive brand recently, and so far I love their products. It feels very high quality and the fabric material is so beautiful. The brand also stands for a great cause: they provide jobs to women artisans at fair-trade wages in a safe environment.

Rachel Zoe Box of Style Spring 2017 Review plus 35% Off Sale!

The bag comes with a long shoulder/crossbody strap made of genuine leather. All the hardware is sturdy and will definitely hold up over time. The leather feels very stiff right now, but I’m sure it will soften over time as I use it.

Rachel Zoe Box of Style Spring 2017 Review plus 35% Off Sale!

The fabric is hand woven and custom for Tribe Alive in small batches. I love that this bag is not only fashionable and well crafted, but also helps sustain tradespeople and their families in other countries.

The interior of the bag has a zippered pocket on one side and two open pockets on the other side.

Seriously, how cute is this bag?! I’m obsessed. And I’ve already gotten compliments on it! One of my coworkers bought the box just for this bag because she loved it so much!

Adornmonde Ivo Earrings | $62.00
Rachel Zoe let subscribers choose between gold and silver for these earrings, which I thought was really great. I’m loving the trend of semi-customized boxes! While I usually stick with gold jewelry, I ended up choosing silver because I thought these looked so pretty in silver. And I have no regrets–very simple yet striking.

Rachel Zoe Box of Style Spring 2017 Review plus 35% Off Sale!

My favorite part about these earrings is the versatility. It’s really 2 pairs of earrings in one, since you can remove the hoops and just wear the bar. The quality is also very good for costume jewelry. I’m hoping to get gold in my second box so I’ll have both options!

Rachel Zoe Box of Style Spring 2017 Review plus 35% Off Sale!

Symbology Scarf | $50.00
This is an exclusive collaboration for the box. I’ve never known how to wear square silk scarves and make them look good, but thanks to the styling tips in the little booklet I’m going to try tying this to my handbag! Such a great suggestion!

Here’s a closer shot of the pattern. The gold on red is a stunning combination.

BKR Glass & Silicone Water Bottle | $35.00
Wow, what a pretty water bottle! I love the ballet pink color and the soft silicone sleeve protects the glass bottle very well. The bottle is dishwasher safe (win!), BPA-free, and phthalate-free. While I have plenty of water bottles, this is definitely my favorite one to look at. It’s just so cute and I’m obsessed with the color.

Rachel Zoe Box of Style Spring 2017 Review plus 35% Off Sale!

Beautifully simple design! While I know my S’well bottle will keep drinks hot and cold for longer, I think this is a wonderful option to bring to the gym or to my pilates class. The handle at the top of the cap makes it easy to grab on the go (my main complaint with my S’well is the lack of a handle!) and the mouth is the perfect size for putting in ice cubes. So glad I’ll be getting a second box so I can have two of these beauties!

Rachel Zoe Box of Style Spring 2017 Review plus 35% Off Sale!

Tatcha Polished Gentle Rice Enzyme Powder | $65.00
When I saw this I literally screamed. Honestly. That’s how excited I was! I was seriously just about to buy 3 of these from Barney’s for full price because they are doing a gift with purchase promotion right now. I use this stuff religiously! And here’s why I am SO excited: this is the Gentle version, which is for dry skin. In the past when subscription services have sent out Tatcha powder it’s always been the Classic. The fact that this box sent the Gentle one that I use is amazing!

Rachel Zoe Box of Style Spring 2017 Review plus 35% Off Sale!

If you’ve never used Tatcha rice powder before I highly recommend it! They sell travel sized ones that you can try if you don’t want to commit to the full sized one. You begin with wet hands and a wet face. Then you pour about half a teaspoon into your hands, add a little bit of water, and rub your hands together to create a creamy foam. Massage it onto your face for 10-20 seconds and then rinse dry. My skin feels amazing after using this, and it’s gentle enough for daily use. I go through it quickly so I’m ecstatic about having this full sized one and a second one on the way!

Rachel Zoe Box of Style Spring 2017 Review plus 35% Off Sale!

Butter London Nail Polish in Piece of Cake | $18.00
Gorgeous color! It matches the water bottle pretty well. Many of you know that my favorite nail polish color is soft pink, so this is exactly what I would have picked for myself. It’s the perfect color for spring!

Rachel Zoe Box of Style Spring 2017 Review plus 35% Off Sale!

Stella Artois Chalice | $13.00
This is a sponsored item, meaning it doesn’t actually count towards the retail value of the box. And from what I understand this only went out to subscribers who were 21 years old or older. While initially I was skeptical about why I would want a beer chalice, I definitely see the appeal now. It’s really quite pretty! And the cause is fantastic. Every limited edition chalice helps provide 5 years of clean water for 1 person in the developing world.

Rachel Zoe Box of Style Spring 2017 Review plus 35% Off Sale!

I had no idea that Stella Artois has been releasing these since 2015, but I’m so glad that I know now. This year the featured countries are Brazil, Cambodia, and Uganda. I received the Brazil version. I’ll see what my 2nd box contains (hoping it’s Cambodia or Uganda) and I plan to buy the last one so I can have all 3 versions. I would also love to continue collecting more over the years as well. We’re currently building our bar collection and think a growing set of these chalices would be lovely.

Rachel Zoe Box of Style Spring 2017 Review plus 35% Off Sale!

Overall, it was an amazing box. The total value comes to $468.00, which is incredible. And you know it’s a great box when you can’t even pick out a favorite item. I love the bag, the water bottle, and Tatcha, the earrings, and even the chalice. The nail polish and scarf weren’t super exciting, but I still like them and plan to use them. There’s literally nothing in this box that I did not like! I’m honestly quite surprised they even still have any boxes left, since I can’t be the only one who bought a 2nd one immediately. If you want this box I would order one right away while you still can!

And if you are interested (you definitely should be!): you can get this box for only $64.99 right now!

Serendipity by Little Lace Box May 2016 Box Review

Ack, I’m so behind again! But this is the last of the May boxes, I promise! Earlier in May I had the opportunity to sign up for a year’s worth of Serendipity by Little Lace Box. I have been keeping my eye on Little Lace Box for a while now and thought I would spring for the Serendipity since its so affordable and I’ve really liked the past boxes. Hopefully in the future I’ll be able to get the regular Little Lace Box subscription as well!

Serendipity by Little Lace Box is a bi-monthly subscription by the same people who run the original Little Lace Box. Serendipity is only $9.99/shipment, and sends out a collection of 5-7 items that “celebrate life, celebrate style, and celebrate you”. The shipments for the two boxes alternate, so if you subscribe to both Little Lace Box and Serendipity, you’ll receive a LLB in June and a Serendipity box in July. There’s no overlap at all. And while Little Lace Box has a theme for each shipment, Serendipity does not. Sign ups for Serendipity are often sold out and open briefly when new spots become available, so if you’re interested I would check the website every now and then to keep tabs!

Serendipity by Little Lace Box May 2016 Box Review

This month the Serendipity actually has a semi-theme: it’s meant to complement the regular Little Lace Box subscription’s theme of “Dining Alfresco”.

Serendipity by Little Lace Box May 2016 Box Review

The pamphlet comes with little blurbs about each item and why it was chosen. This month also included a spoiler item for the regular Little Lace Box’s June shipment, which will include wine flight and tasting papers.

Annie B’s Handmade Popcorn in Triple Treat | $2.00
My boyfriend was so happy to see this, since he loves any and all popcorn, but especially the caramel and cheese combination. I discovered this combination for the first time in Chicago, and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was! Caramel and cheese together sounded really gross to me, but trust me when I say it really works together. I’ve been on a diet lately (sigh…) so my boyfriend ended up taking this bag with him to work. I didn’t get to taste any, but he had nothing but good things to say!

Serendipity by Little Lace Box May 2016 Box Review

Modish Polish in Inspired by Pink | $12.00
A completely new-to-me brand of nail polish, which I’m always open to. Subscribers received different colors, and I’m extremely happy with the pale pink that I got. Inspired by Pink is part of their Beauty With A Cause Collection, and a portion of this pink color’s proceeds are donated to Lipstick Angels, a nonprofit dedicated to providing beauty services to patients with cancer. The polish is also 5-free and vegan friendly. Glad to have discovered this great brand!

Serendipity by Little Lace Box May 2016 Box Review

I ran out of polish swatch sticks, sorry y’all! It’s a pretty creme ballet pink that is really soft and feminine. I personally prefer pinks and glitters when it comes to nail polish, so this works out well for me. I think it’ll look amazing with a glittery top coat! Good opacity and smooth formula, very easy to apply and work with.

Serendipity by Little Lace Box May 2016 Box Review

Alfresco Stemless Wine Glasses | $7.99
When I first saw these when I opened the box, I assumed they were plastic. But nope, they’re actually glass! I was really impressed! And they’re not flimsy or thin either. These are sturdy and have a substantial weight to them. Definitely my favorite item in the box since they are so practical and well constructed. I know I’m not supposed to put wine glasses through the dishwasher but I tried with these and they held up great. I’ll probably be using these from now on for wine at home, and using the stemmed glassware for when we have guests.

Serendipity by Little Lace Box May 2016 Box Review

Pack-n-Go Insulated Tote | $6.99
Subscribers either received this in green or red. I wasn’t terribly excited to get a tiny lunchbox tote like this at first, since we have a few bigger ones that seem more practical. But then I thought about it and now I think this is actually a great size for just my boyfriend and I. Here in Houston we have an outdoor theater that hosts shows in the evenings in the summer, and this would be great for bringing a couple beers and snacks with us without busting out the larger totes/coolers. It’s big enough to fit 6 beers and 2 sandwiches comfortably (trust me, I’ve already tested this out), and has elastic pockets on both sides and a pocket on the front. It also has a strap long enough to be a crossbody, which is really convenient.

Serendipity by Little Lace Box May 2016 Box Review

Surprisingly  roomy on the inside! It doesn’t keep drinks cold for as long as our bigger ones do, but for a couple hours it definitely does the trick.

Serendipity by Little Lace Box May 2016 Box Review

Laguna Salt Company Tuscan Rosemary | $6.95
Runner-up for favorite item! I love flavored sea salts and rosemary is a versatile herb that goes with almost everything. It feels really appropriate for an alfresco dining theme, because as soon as I saw it my first thought was “ooh, I can’t wait to use this on the grill!”. I added some of this salt to olive oil and used it as a dip for bread. So delicious! And so incredibly simple. At 2 ounces it’s a pretty generous size too. I’ll definitely get plenty of use out of it! Will probably purchase more from this company when I run out–they have lots of great flavors like Sweet Hibiscus and Wild Ginger.

Serendipity by Little Lace Box May 2016 Box Review

Overall value comes to $35.93. For a $10 box! How do they do it? I have no idea. But I’m completely hooked. I thought this was an absolutely amazing box. The items felt well curated and the quality was great. I will use/have already used all 5 of the items and for only $10 (includes shipping!), it’s a complete steal. I don’t know of any other subscription out that that offers this quality for the price point. The mix of home, beauty, and food is really practical and reminds me a lot of POPSUGAR Must Have at a fraction of the cost. I think this is what POPSUGAR should have been aiming for when it launched the Mini box!

I really wish this could be a monthly box instead of a bi-monthly. I’m dying to get my July box already and it’s barely June. I’m so impressed with this that I really might have to get myself an actual Little Lace Box subscription as well!

POPSUGAR Must Have May 2016 Box Review and Promo Code!

Finally got my May POPSUGAR box this week! I peeked and looked at spoilers before I got my box, so I knew what to expect already. I never seem to have the self restraint to avoid looking at spoilers! But it’s completely different to actually have the box in my hands, because sometimes the spoilers don’t look that exciting but I end up loving the box once I actually receive it. I was hoping this would be one of those boxes.

POPSUGAR Must Have is a subscription service that sends a variety of items for women that are curated by the POPSUGAR editors. Items typically include food, beauty, home, among other miscellaneous things. Each month is $39.99/month, but you can use the code REFER5 to get $5 off your first month. It’s hands down my favorite subscription thus far, and consistently has a great cost to value ratio. Almost every month the value of the box is more than $100.

Recently POPSUGAR has gone through another rebranding, so I’m still getting used to the new look. While I like the more minimal branding, I think the boxes are packed more haphazardly now. This month all my items arrived kind of jumbled without much protective packaging. Luckily nothing was broken, but I miss the old days of carefully packed boxes!

On the bright side the information cards look really posh now!

Kocostar Foot Therapy | $10.00
First of all, I always get excited when I see products that I’ve seen at Anthropologie being featured in a subscription box! Normally this is a little out of my price range for what I’m willing to spend on a single-use foot mask, but since it came in a box I’m pretty happy. This foot mask is meant to be worn for 1.5 hours, so get Netflix ready! Word of advice: don’t try to walk in this mask! There’s a good chance that you’ll slip, since the interior is very slick.

Spongelle Spongology Body Buffer | $20.00
I’m a sucker for gorgeous packaging, and this is my favorite that I’ve seen from Spongelle before! Even though the concept of a cleanser-infused sponge is sort of wasteful, I do enjoy using them for traveling. Instead of having to bring little bottles of of body wash, I can bring a sponge that is meant to be disposed of after a week or two. This one is supposed to last for approximately 20 uses.

This sponge is definitely great for exfoliating–it’s much rougher than I expected! I found it to be pretty luxurious, almost like a little massage for myself in the shower. My skin felt really soft and clean afterwards and I love the scent!

Happy Spritz Breathe Deeply | $25.00
I don’t really know what to use this for. It’s meant to be used on your face as a refreshing spray, and also on your yoga mat after an intense workout session. I find peppermint oil to be very harsh on my skin, so I definitely didn’t want to spray any on my face. I tried some on my yoga mat but I still prefer the actual cleaner that my yoga studio provides after each class. I’ve also tried using it as a room freshener spray but it didn’t really do much. Feeling sort of disappointed since it’s one of the higher priced items in this box and so far I’m totally stumped on what to use this for. Open to any and all suggestions!

GAIAM Foldable Yoga Mat | $24.98
I applaud POPSUGAR for sending something very different, because I don’t think I’ve ever seen a yoga mat in a subscription box like this before! Personally, I won’t get very much use out of this mat because I pretty much never travel with a yoga mat and I already have a very thin one that rolls up efficiently (also by GAIAM). Since this one is meant to be folded, it’s quite difficult to get the folds out of it even after keeping it unfolded for several days. For me, that’s a deal breaker because I love having my yoga mat lay perfectly flat. It bothers me to even have a small corner curled up! Plus I think over time your mat would crack at the fold marks. I’ll be passing this along to a friend who needs a yoga mat, since I know it would just be collecting dust in my home.

Bluma Project Capri Bracelets Set of 2 | $44.00
I love the adorable packaging! These bracelets are so much smaller and more delicate than I thought they would be. They are handcrafted by Guatemalan artisans and made with a thin elastic to stretch to accommodate your wrist size. I found them to be a little on the smaller side, since they fit me sort of snugly but I think I have pretty average sized wrists.

POPSUGAR must really have a thing for tassels right now! First the tassel necklace in the March box and now 2 tassel bracelets! I believe every subscriber received the same color combination: one light blue and one navy.

I actually like these bracelets way more than I thought I would, but I’m finding myself incredulous about the price tag. I have no idea how these are valued at $22 each. It’s literally just a thin piece of elastic with seed beads.

JimmyBar! Peanut Butter Clutter Clean Snack Bar | $2.49
Not a huge fan of peanut butter or dates, so my boyfriend got to enjoy this. He liked it, but didn’t feel it was special enough to warrant buying more. It’s gluten-free, dairy-free, and doesn’t contain any preservatives. Very simple ingredients list for those who are watchful of that: Dates, Peanut Butter, Crisp Brown Rice, Peanuts, Almonds, Honey.

Hint Kick Black Raspberry Infused Water | $1.69
This was a “special extra”, meaning it’s a sponsored item. My boyfriend and I are both big fans of sugar-free beverages, so I was happy to try a drink that I had never heard of before. I guess maybe because I was expecting it to be a slightly sweet flavor that I was a bit thrown off when it tasted kind of herbal, if that makes sense. It did taste like the fruit infused water that I’ve been obsessed with, but more chemical and herbal. I wasn’t a big fan. I wish I had gotten to try the Lemon Cayenne flavor that some subscribers received. It sounds more interesting. For me, I don’t really see the point of buying this drink. You can make your own infused water by adding mint or lemon or whatever fruit you want. It’s easy, delicious, and cheap! And if you want caffeine, tea comes in a bunch of different types and flavors as well.

Revlon Volume + Length Magnified Mascara | $8.99
This is another sponsored item, which makes sense since POPSUGAR doesn’t usually send drugstore brands like Revlon. I’m happy to try out a new product though, because sometimes drugstore brands yield amazing results! Unfortunately, this one didn’t impress me. Maybe because I’m so particular about my mascara, but I found the wand difficult to work with and the formula to be flaky. It actually went on my lashes pretty well and I was able to get decent volume. But after a few hours they started to flake off and smudge.

There was also supposed to be a Half Hitch Goods $10 “Gift Card” in my box, but it appears to be missing. I didn’t even bother contacting customer service about it though, since it wasn’t a true gift card. If I have to spend extra money to get something, shipping isn’t covered, and it doesn’t stack, I don’t count it as an actual gift card. Half Hitch Goods does have some super cute stuff though!

Overall it was a disappointing box for me. I hate to be so negative, and I think this is probably one of the worst I’ve ever written for POPSUGAR, but I’m also trying to be honest. It wasn’t a good fit for me this month. I’m not saying it was a terrible box, since the value is still $137.15 (though to be fair that’s on the lower end for PSMH) and I’m sure plenty of people enjoyed theirs. I just don’t think I’m an active enough person to make this one exciting. The things that I did like are the lower value items: the foot mask, the sponge buffer, and the bracelets. Even though the bracelets have a high price tag, I personally would value them at a much lower cost (maybe like $10 each). I feel like I probably could have purchased similar items for around the same cost of the box.

On the bright side, this just means that next month will for sure be better than this month and I can’t wait to see what we’ll be getting!
